His statement is perfectly accurate. We’ve been hearing “Let me be clear” since this guy started campaigning for president.

He’s clear as glass. Most of us have been seeing through his bull**** for close to six years now.

The straw man version:
“Let me be clear. I’m not going to confiscate all guns, handguns, long guns, any and every type of gun. And yet I’m not going to allow people to own whatever weapon they’d like, such as hand grenades, tanks, and portable nuclear weapons”
(as if anyone ever suggested either one)

The flat-out lie version:
“Let me be clear. I will do whatever I can to create and perserve American jobs”
(while supporting every job-killing policy there is)

This is our great orator? Total straw man. NO ONE, no one, suggested laws can “prevent every senseless act of violence”. So thanks so much for debunking that idea. Twice. Yesterday, and then on Sunday, in case we forgot from day to day.

No one is stopping you from being clear, buddy. So stop saying, “let me be clear.” This ain’t “Let my people go.” There is a constant subtle implication that “people” are holding him back or hamstringing him in some way. Oh if only those villains would only let him be clear, we might not go off the fiscal cliff!

The stock straw man set-up: “There are those who would (insert straw man), this I reject.”

But if you have to say “let me be clear” more than once, then it is patently obvious that’s the last thing in the world you are trying to do.

“Let me be clear” translates to “I’m about to obfuscate.”
