Does he still use “make no mistake” all the time too?

Nick_Angel on December 20, 2012 at 4:41 PM

this is his “tell”… immediately followed by complete and utter BS

gatorboy on December 20, 2012 at 4:44 PM

President Obama is known for his eloquent speeches, but above all, he just wants to be clear.

Hoo boy, the MSM’s worship of the stammering TelePrompTer addict knows no end.

KS Rex on December 20, 2012 at 4:46 PM

Nixon used almost the same verbiage, and just as often.

Birds of a feather.

May Obama follow his example to the same conclusion.

Joe Mama on December 20, 2012 at 4:47 PM

“As I’ve always said…” is another one.

“Let me be clear” translates to “I’m about to obfuscate.”

SAMinVA on December 20, 2012 at 4:48 PM

It’s pretty clear up in here Mr. President.

Opposite Day on December 20, 2012 at 4:57 PM

“Let us be broke”

Opposite Day on December 20, 2012 at 4:58 PM

This came from Time?
Heh.
I guess that proves that POY is not a compliment from them.

22044 on December 20, 2012 at 5:13 PM

If you say “I am not a crook” one time, then it’s at least theoretically possible it might be true.

But if you have to say “let me be clear” more than once, then it is patently obvious that’s the last thing in the world you are trying to do.

logis on December 20, 2012 at 5:38 PM

Clear is the last thing he wants to be. Laying out his real vision clearly would repulse any reasonable person.

rightmind on December 20, 2012 at 6:08 PM

He’s clear as glass. Most of us have been seeing through his bull**** for close to six years now.

steebo77 on December 20, 2012 at 4:38 PM

The stock straw man set-up: “There are those who would (insert straw man), this I reject.”

forest on December 20, 2012 at 6:35 PM

I never post but I really dislike this phrase of his.

No one is stopping you from being clear, buddy. So stop saying, “let me be clear.” This ain’t “Let my people go.” There is a constant subtle implication that “people” are holding him back or hamstringing him in some way. Oh if only those villains would only let him be clear, we might not go off the fiscal cliff!

RAXTSFK on December 20, 2012 at 6:37 PM

I’ve always wondered who it is that is somehow preventing him from being clear.

CycloneCDB on December 20, 2012 at 6:39 PM

I have some ideas who it might be specifically , but i think its in he likes to keep it a vague boogieman

steebo77 on December 20, 2012 at 4:38 PM

(made-up quotes for demonstration purposes)

The straw man version:
“Let me be clear. I’m not going to confiscate all guns, handguns, long guns, any and every type of gun. And yet I’m not going to allow people to own whatever weapon they’d like, such as hand grenades, tanks, and portable nuclear weapons”
(as if anyone ever suggested either one)

The flat-out lie version:
“Let me be clear. I will do whatever I can to create and perserve American jobs”
(while supporting every job-killing policy there is)

Every day, a new straw-man, a new flat-out lie.

Did you check out what he said yesterday?

“And as I said on Sunday night, there’s no law or set of laws that can prevent every senseless act of violence in our society.”

This is our great orator? Total straw man. NO ONE, no one, suggested laws can “prevent every senseless act of violence”. So thanks so much for debunking that idea. Twice. Yesterday, and then on Sunday, in case we forgot from day to day.

/Winston Churchill he’s not

Paul-Cincy on December 20, 2012 at 7:05 PM

Let There Be Rock is so much catchier.

hillbillyjim on December 20, 2012 at 7:44 PM

Apart from “let me be clear” — “look” was his other tell. People in the administration have realized this, and he has obviously had a speech trainer working with him in the past few year. I rarely hear him say either one now. Still haven’t picked up on any new tell that he is lying (other than just when his lips are moving). Anyone else notice any new tells?

Glenn Jericho on December 20, 2012 at 8:28 PM

Glenn Jericho on December 20, 2012 at 8:28 PM

It’s certainly not new, but I’ve noticed that when his lips move, one can expect a barrage of bullstew.

hillbillyjim on December 20, 2012 at 8:34 PM

He spends every waking moment letting himself be perfectly clear.

(whatever happened to the “every waking moment” video where that line was run into the ground?)

Pazman on December 20, 2012 at 8:40 PM

“Let me be clear”

I counted 32 in the vid.

“As I’ve always said…” is another one.

SAMinVA on December 20, 2012 at 4:48 PM

Yup.
And he whistles every time a word ends with an s.
And he always says “yo” when he means “you know.”

But he’s the world’s greatest orator.

:P

itsnotaboutme on December 20, 2012 at 8:43 PM

I can’t listen to this idiot anymore, even in jest.

The Count on December 20, 2012 at 9:33 PM

No to mention referring to every group of people as “folks”. Even terrorists

Fed45 on December 20, 2012 at 9:42 PM

Let me be clear. I’m not done lying yet.

The Rogue Tomato on December 20, 2012 at 10:05 PM

His dainty little hands creep me out.

TimBuk3 on December 20, 2012 at 11:15 PM

and yet somehow every time he is quoted by an opponent, he turns out to have meant something other than what he said…

eh on December 21, 2012 at 3:03 AM

Nixon used almost the same verbiage, and just as often.

Joe Mama on December 20, 2012 at 4:47 PM

Let me clear, the upsurge in the number of people who try to use that word yet mispronounce it “verb-age” really grinds my gears.

And he whistles every time a word ends with an s.

itsnotaboutme on December 20, 2012 at 8:43 PM

Let me be clear. He wasn’t the first to do that. He wasn’t the first to whistle. It was Gopher.

KGB on December 21, 2012 at 8:23 AM

Well he was just re-elected for another 4 ears, so your statement is not accurate, but many of us agree with you.

His statement is perfectly accurate. We’ve been hearing “Let me be clear” since this guy started campaigning for president.
