Fundamentally Transforming America: Promise Kept

posted at 3:42 pm on December 10, 2012 by

Good thing the Mayans are going to take care of everything a week from Friday, because it would be hard to see the United States no longer be the world’s superpower by 2030, according to this report in this morning’s Politico:

A new report by the intelligence community projects that the United States will no longer be the world’s only superpower by 2030.

“In terms of the indices of overall power – GDP, population size, military spending and technological investment – Asia will surpass North America and Europe combined,” the report concludes.

Looks like this administration will have eight years to now only preside over the continual dumbing down of education, but dumbing down smart power, too. Taking a trillion dollars out of Defense over the next decade should keep our waning global influence pretty much on schedule.

Hell, if we make it until 2030 in any form recognizable to anybody who’s over 35 now, I’d consider that a miracle.

Liberals nation wide are on knees thanking their savior. Now they can feel good about themselves because they no longer live in the greatest nation on Earth. Someday they may even live in abject poverty as they know they should or be conquered by a more deserving non-white culture. Preferably gay and Muslim.

Obysmal is in Michigan agitating with disinformation and using appalling grammar at the same time.

President Obama attacked Michigan’s new right to work laws during a visit to Detroit today:

And by the way, what we shouldn’t do, I just got to say this, what we shouldn’t be doing is trying to take away your rights to bargain for better wages and working conditions. We shouldn’t be doing that. You know, these so-called right to work laws they don’t have anything to do with economics, they have everything to do with politics. What they’re really talking about is giving you the right to work for less money.

The right to work means that unions cannot legally take money from workers to pay for union dues. It does not mean that people cannot join a union.

2030?

Seems rather optimistic.

Once the dollar is not longer the standard reserve currency it’s game up.

Or if debt rates return to historic norms we’ll spend more servicing the debt than on the military.

The CBO projects our economy will have completely imploded before 2030 too.

gwelf on December 10, 2012 at 4:23 PM

This is good news guys – it means that we’ll finally be able to stop printing 70% of our annual debt and instead Asians will be able to fully lend us our trillion+ per year debt!

IIRC, didn’t bho say, when he was re-elected, the best is yet to come? Best for bho/team/foto’s/union thugs/etc., NOT the American taxpayers!

Japan and South Korea are considered part of the Western alliance…

China is going to collapse by 2030, you simply cannot be a superpower when 95% of their population live way below the poverty line in US standards… Slave labor does not make a great nation or a super power… China population does not have FREEDOM and no nation is going to beat us when they have no FREEDOM for their population… The same goes to India in regards to poverty and slave labor…

This report is way exaggerated… Despite Obama and the socialists who are now running the country, the USA will remain the most powerful, most advanced, and richest nation in the world for generations to come…

Agreed with this. Japan had much more going for it in the days when they were seen as buying America left and right, and in retrospect there was no chance their economy would emerge as dominant.

That said, America is not even close to any sort of path that would see it remain as a world superpower. It won’t be China, but there will be several emerging powers.

Australia has maintained reasonable economic strength despite the worst efforts of a disastrously incompetent government. Canada will vie with America as a regional power – they have most of our geopolitical strengths, and as long as the NDP can be kept from power a far better fiscal discipline. They’ll also inherit a bunch of our wealth as they’ll be the easiest border for our makers to cross as our takers continue to dominate our economy. Eastern Europe has plenty of room to grow, if they can overcome corrupt governments. Russia very unlikely there, but Ukraine could emerge and Poland just needs a couple generations of freedom. After that it depends on what parts of Europe dodge both the failure of the EU and the influx of Islamists.

There is thousands of years worth of visible evidence plus scientific proof that the days lengthen after the winter solstice. Nothing in human history shows an expansive government later relinquishing the power that it took from the people without the intervention of a revolution. Prosperity doesn’t last without the freedom to sustain it; that’s why China won’t be the superpower of superpowers, but also why America isn’t currently on any pace to maintain that honor.

Gingotts on December 10, 2012 at 5:53 PM

Nothing is going on that wouldn’t be happening if Romney would have won the election, because there is no difference between the two. I’m proud of myself for not voting.

One has to wonder, when 2016 comes around will there be enough Americans left with jobs (or the memory of jobs) to derail this progressive train to oblivion?

Why is being a military superpower important? Why can’t we just have a military that’s strong enough for defense and get out of the business of policing the globe?

You realize that this trend could be reversed with one election of one person who loves America.

Not that that will happen.

Sterling Holobyte on December 11, 2012 at 10:28 AM

Global influence costs lots of money. If we don’t have any money for equal access to medical care or education, we don’t have enough for pissing contests with the Chinese, end of story.

Can you try and explain how you arrived at your conclusion, then? We certainly won’t have a larger population, but what makes you believe that with twice the population that Asia shouldn’t be outproducing us by 2030? What can one president do, in 4 or 8 years, that will give us such an advantage? Everything a president can do will be at the margins: deregulation and lower taxes can move the needle a bit, but I think you’re underestimating the advantage Asia has. This is to say nothing of our military. We are broke, remember? How are we supposed to outspend China when we’re being told to cut all spending here?

faraway on December 11, 2012 at 11:12 AM

No, I’m not. I’m saying that in this country, the medical treatment you receive is determined by your personal income. People’s incomes are not equal, therefor their access to medicine is not equal. The same is true for education. And you know what, if that’s the way you want it that’s perfectly fine, but don’t you tell me that we can’t afford that, and then tell me that we need to spend trillions more on our military so that we can engage in a proper pissing contest with the Chinese.
