Kate Middleton and Prince William expecting a baby

posted at 11:34 am on December 3, 2012 by

Welcome to the news cycle for the next 6-8 months:

The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby, St James’s Palace has announced.

Members of the royal family and the duchess’s family, the Middletons, are said to be delighted.

A spokesman said the duchess has been admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in central London with acute morning sickness and is expected to stay for several days.

Catherine and William were married at Westminster Abbey in April 2011.

I’ve never been someone who’s interested in the Royals before, but I admit I do love me some Kate Middleton. The two of them actually seem like they love each other and I wish them the best.

Here’s Kate last week, playing field hockey in heels and Alexander McQueen and making it look easy.

It ain’t his. That guy does not have enough testosterone in his body to create a sperm cell.

Well, what do you expect if all you do is walk around naked in front of paparazzi?

esnap on December 3, 2012 at 11:41 AM

Damn. I was kind of hoping we’d see that drunken party animal Harry in the line of succession. Ah well.

Shut your mouth! He pilots rescue choppers, and upon his insistence does actual at-sea rescues. He was in no position to insist on going over to the sandbox, but his brother was, and did. He is his mother’s son.

Over the last 24 hours, there were threads about marriage and babies. Hmm…….the Brit Royals are showing the way. Good for them.

tommy71 on December 3, 2012 at 11:51 AM

Michelle O will probably announce the same thing soon, lest the other royal couple get more attention that Her Highness.

Reportedly bald guys have more testosterone, and William’s hair is receding faster than Jon Huntsman from the GOP, so I’d say he has plenty.

Bwahahahahaha! That was hilarious! Thank you, I needed that smile.

Not good for the baby. NHS intentionally starves babies to death.

rbj on December 3, 2012 at 12:02 PM

Admitted to the hospital for a few days for morning sickness? I wonder if that is covered by the National Health Service.

Sekhmet on December 3, 2012 at 11:46 AM

Is that supposed to be a good thing? Congrats to them though, now I can go back to not caring.

The best thing about that royal is that she was not born one. Hot she is, though.

ExpressoBold on December 3, 2012 at 12:17 PM

Obama has sent a condolence card to the couple. He says it’s unfortunate they’ve been punished with a baby.

Nethicus on December 3, 2012 at 12:21 PM

Is there anything an Obama Second term can’t do?

portlandon on December 3, 2012 at 12:22 PM

That’s nice. I like optimism, even if it is in England.

Cindy Munford on December 3, 2012 at 12:25 PM

Oh God, I’ve been dreading this for a while. It’s time for several months of the news being completely obnoxious…

I’m going to prison. Guaranteed. By the end of this I’ll be going around decking people for using the phrase “baby bump.” It annoys me to no end.

Cindy Munford on December 3, 2012 at 12:25 PM

I agree. Things are so depressing – we need a little optimism in the news.

Gingotts on December 3, 2012 at 12:26 PM

It’s the media, you can’t expect much from them, they are all Obama supporters.

gophergirl on December 3, 2012 at 12:32 PM

I’m not there myself and I assume it’s easier to move on when Obama isn’t your president but babies are the best.

Cindy Munford on December 3, 2012 at 12:38 PM

I wish Kate well. I had the same thing at the outset of my first pregnancy and was hospitalized twice. It is dangerous for the baby if the mother is malnourished because she cannot keep down any food or prenatal vitamins, as this is the time when many of the baby’s vital organs are developing. I lost 14 pounds in the first 6 weeks. Kate is already so thin that she cannot afford to lose any weight.

rockmom on December 3, 2012 at 12:41 PM

‘You didn’t build that’.

EnglishRogue on December 3, 2012 at 12:42 PM

I am happy for them! Babies are the best.

Agreed. There’s nothing wrong with enthusiasm for family.

JeepGirl on December 3, 2012 at 12:50 PM

Also, like MKH…I can’t help but like them.

I think it is nice for them to be having a child. I do hope things go OK for Kate, she is a lovely lady. Can’t say the same about her hubby, he has ‘beaver teeth’ when he smiles. Best wishes for them and a healthy child.

I hope it is a girl and they name her Diana.

Blake on December 3, 2012 at 12:59 PM

I am sorry, I mistook this prince for the other one that was in the news recently telling us how we need to embrace renewable energy.

astonerii on December 3, 2012 at 1:55 PM

Not a big royal fan, but I’m in synch with MKH. They are likable and seem to really love each other. That pic of her playing field hockey is awesome. I was on my school’s team. I think X-rays would show I still have the dents in my shins to prove it. owwww.

However, I do NOT look forward to all the reports we’ll be hearing of the “baby bump”. i hate that phrase, and long distance obstetrics annoys me.

Bald guys rule… eventually.

lexhamfox on December 3, 2012 at 2:08 PM

Her main job is to produce an heir and a spare, and I bet she’s glad that these days the pressure is off to produce a male.

juliesa on December 3, 2012 at 2:14 PM

Since she’s married, isn’t her name “Kate Windsor”?

The Monster on December 3, 2012 at 2:55 PM

Actually, royals don’t have last names. They use Mountbatten-Windsor as their last name if required to for legal purposes.
