Cheesecake Factory CEO: ObamaCare is going to be “very costly” to small enterprises

posted at 5:07 pm on December 3, 2012 by

Possible incoming surtax on cheesecake? Dagger.

“For those businesses that don’t cover their employees, they’ll be in for a very expensive situation.” Overton also warned that the cost of the law would be passed on to customers. …

The restaurant chain executive pointed out that, unlike many businesses, The Cheesecake Factory is “already…paying a great deal in health care. So, we’re not sure how much more it will be – or how much less – or what exactly we’ll do. So, for us, it won’t be as bad as it will be for others, which it will be very costly.”

Give me cheesecake or give me death.

Michelle: “Hmmm, do we have a Cheesecake tax yet?”

Fleuries on December 3, 2012 at 5:41 PM

Really, we needed that to tell us it’s going to be more expensive for small business? Anyone who didn’t know that already raise your hand.

From the size of Moochelle’s butt and thighs, I believe she is an expert on cheesecake.

How terribly unpatriotic of him.

Guy Benson on December 3, 2012 at 6:00 PM

Clearly Big Cheese can’t be trusted to provide jobs with benefits to their employees…..

….which DUH, is the whole point of why companies should be in business.

….So the company should be confiscated and given to the employees that have been hosed by this greedy company for years.

But first let’s have the government charge a fee and let them have a piece of the carcass.

Forward America…..everyone find a teat on the sow.

Where to run?

PappyD61 on December 3, 2012 at 6:14 PM

Is this going to be like Papa John’s where he eventually admitted the Obamacare actually levels the playing field and allows him to compete with others who do not offer coverage? That he was already covering full time employees for decades and part time employees were not affected anyway?

Oh no, the Cheesecake Factory may have to lay off Penny! Where the hell are they going to find another server who puts up with Sheldon?

radjah shelduck on December 3, 2012 at 6:25 PM

Expect the Labor Department to announce a ‘surprise’ review of labor practices at Cheesecake Factory, which totally, no-way has anything to do with this gentleman’s traitorous and wrong-headed statements about Comrade Obama’s HealthGift To America(TM).

After all, we can’t have eeeeevill capitalists misinforming the proletariat, now can we?

orangemtl on December 3, 2012 at 7:30 PM

It’s all part of the cheesecake redistribution. Instead of the EEEVILL RICH getting 80% of the cheesecake, every person in Amerika will get one tiny bite… and then there will never be cheesecake ever again, because no one will make any.

Isn’t this a no sh!t, Sherlock moment? Did this person speak out on the run up to the vote? Or how about during the election? Any political contributions?

Cindy Munford on December 3, 2012 at 7:59 PM

Any restaurant that passes an “Obamacare surcharge” is going to get an earfull from me right before I walk out front door, never to return…

Elections have consequences… let it burn…

I say bring it on. We are just going to move all our hourly workers to part time.

But I don’t think a single one of them voted for Romney. So #$^# ‘em. If I hear one of them complain about it I’m going to laugh in their face. I warned them.

Just remember, if you leave the country permanently, you’re still legally obligated to pay U.S. income taxes for 10 years.

So you support “levelling the playing field” in favor of enormous corporations against local startups?

If not, please clarify how the bolded part can mean anything else.
