The reckoning will come whether we want it to or not. There is no such thing as a free lunch and if the American people, Barack Obama and the Pelosi/Reid crowd insist on defying reality they will suffer. Obama will not be on the ballot again and anybody who thinks the American people will put Clinton or Biden in to fix it is delusional. How is Clinton going to argue that taxes at rates that were in effect during her husband’s term are at fault? How is Biden going to argue that after eight years of his team’s policies he should be in charge? We are in a world of hurt, but trying to fix it by agreeing with the other side is not going to fix it. Politicians can’t or won’t do what is necessary, only reality will.

All this panic is premature.

OK, the D’s have the sympathetic press, but they had that before the election, nothing new about that.

And the Senate — that ain’t worth much. The House can be controlled, the Senate can’t. Reid has to work some with Senate R’s; House R’s can generally ignore House D’s.

The President has to play a passive role legislatively until Congress sends something — he can try to frame the public debate and wield his veto pen but he can’t legislate. And he has NO positive experience getting bipartisan legislation through. He rammed through the 2009 stimulus law and the 2010 health care law with D majorities, and managed to lose the PR debate even on those.

There’s no reason House R’s should be rolling over. Anything that moves has to move through conference and there face the House R position.

True. Everyone knows the GOP doesn’t want the tax cuts to expire. They’ll of course blame us for being obstructionist, but at least we’re consistent. And the fact that it is such a given that the GOP will be blamed might help the meme to die quickly anyway. We push back, it’s all we can do.

Also, we are capable of changing the narrative if we try. Papers are on their way out. There’s an untapped potential in the dextrosphere if only DC republicans would listen to/engage us. Maybe they’ve learned from this election that old campaign tactics don’t work as well anymore and are ready to give us a chance. We are a great message distribution machine. They just have to learn how to talk online.

The democrats have institutionalized theft, and a moral person should have no business in assisting or being involved in such a morally reprehensible position especially if that involvement is a lose-lose situation for them in this zero sum game we call DC. With the cards stacked against them, voting present and letting Obama and the Democrats own the results, they will set themselves up to not only gain in the House, but take the Senate in the mid-terms. And if they threaten to do so, even going to far as to sign a pledge, you can be some Democrats will be tap dancing faster than bare-footed Michael Flatley on a hot bed of coals and suddenly find Jesus and walk back from the insanity that is Barack Obama.

This is the way to win this game. Quit playing it. Two years of pain, many years of gain.

Man am I tired of the stupidity of this “vote present” and “let it burn” BS. House GOP have an easy way forward – pass a bill that has tax hikes for “millionaires and billionaires” but based on spending cut benchmarks. For example, restore the pre-Bush tax rates on incomes over $1M but *only if* spending decreases at least $200B year-on-year. Then memorize a few talking points:

- We’ve passed a bill. When the Democrat Senate passes a bill we’ll hash it out in conference as is traditional. Why can’t the Dog Eater get his Dem controlled Senate to pass his bill?

- We picked $1M because we don’t want to raise taxes on the middle class and small business owners. Why do Dems hate them so?

- $200B is only 5% of federal spending, surely in these lean times the feds can tighten their belts that much. It’s far less than regular folks already have.

And otherwise, STFU about it and talk about Benghazi etc. instead.

republicans need to counter using Obama’s own ration. If he wants 1.6 trillion in tax hikes, he needs to cut 4 trillion (concrete cuts) over the same time frame as the tax hikes. That needs to be the GOP rebuttal.

The Republicans are NOT screwed. They are afraid. They are timid. They are cowardly, but they are not screwed. If they think they’re screwed because they might get blamed for bad things, well poor them. They’re idiots.

The only people screwed in this whole disaster are the American People who have been so completely lied to and deceived, so completely dis-educated, that they can not tell right from wrong and what is cause and what is effect.
But the Republicans aren’t screwed at all. Unless by ‘screwed’ you mean they have to make a hard decision and fight a fight they’ll probably lose in the short run. I don’t consider that screwed at all, I consider that being elected to congress.

The GOP is Dead! – Long Live the GOP!
The GOP is dead, finished, all-she-wrote in Washington DC. That is to say, in Congress.
They’re dead because the GOP are in a no-win situation proven by the Six Point ActionAgenda from Dick Morris–our famous prognosticator–laid out in his recent video.
Why? Because the agenda Morris sets out for the GOP must be done primarily from Washington and that agenda will be impossible to implement. As a matter of fact, some of the Republicans in Congress are sounding like they will go back on their principles to avoid the fiscal cliff.
They have to if they want to see themselves re-elected in two years.
If the GOP in Congress holds firm on taxes and cuts to the Federal budget and we go over the cliff, then the Republican controlled Congress will get the blame–egged on with the MSM–and the GOP will lose control of Congress and we are back to one party rule.
Again. I see the GOP in a no-win situation on a national level.
But there is hope for the preservation of our conservative principles and constitutional values in government. That hope is providing examples of how these same principles and values, stimulating the local economy, cutting taxes and spending, providing jobs, that will be impossible to implement by Congress can, in no uncertain terms, work.
Theseprinciples and values are working in the GOP controlled red states like Texas and purple states like New Jersey led by conservative or near conservative governors and legislatures–Republican governorships and legislatures that have grown in numbers with the last election.
In those states that represent the Democrat agenda, the worst of the blue states like California, are failing miserably. Of course, Obama will bail out those states with the tax revenues from the successful red states but that’s to be expected and hopefully the worst of what would happen.
The worst?
The blue state population see the success of the red state next door and leaves the cesspool of the liberal utopia and move to the red states–and infect the body politic there with their liberal ideology, unrepentant from their blue state experience.
The GOP and the principles and values it represents can survive and thrive in the red states and act as proven examples of conservative and constitutional principles–and that’s where money and support should be channeled. Forget Washington DC. Forget Congress. The future of the GOP is on the state level.

When the guy on the street discovers that those care free days are not returning some long overdue reflection will be in order on his part.

The Dems are playing the win/win game for themselves. They are looking toward the 2014 mid-terms and will villify Republicans for agreeing to tax hikes (if Republicans agree). They will pound Republicans in 2014 for breaking their no tax increase pledge.

Obama’s dream, like every liberal’s, is to raise taxes on everyone and cut military spending dramatically. Republicans got in this mess b/c of the deals they’ve made before. But now that they’re in it they have to deal with it.

Obama is intentionally asking for WAY more than he ever proposed during the election and ever before. He wants to go over the cliff and WILL effectively blame Republicans for it.

Republicans need to give him what he wants, then let him own it. Give 53% of America what they voted for. Vote present and let them own the damage.

I was at the grocery store the other day, and there was a guy ahead of me in line who looked like a homeless person. For no discernable reason, he kept repeating to the checkout lady that the economy would be a lot better off if Republicans didn’t control the House of Representatives.

This guy probably couldn’t tie his own shoelaces without help. But by God, he knew that Republicans are destroying the world.

He had a lady with him who was helping him shop. The people who used to be institutionalized now have their own personal assistants, personal shoppers, personal chauffers, and full-time political indoctrinators.
