Oh please, the average voter has no idea what’s going on in Europe. They don’t know the lessons exist so there is no way for them to learn about them. They will remain clueless until WE run out of other people’s money to pay their benefits. Then it will still be the rich and Republican’s falt they are forced to riot in the streets like they are doing now in Europe.

This is the key difference. The Danish government actually cares about employment. Given how the Democrats are busy wiping out productive industries left and right here, I don’t think we can say the same for the US.

Denmark taxes consumption at an extremely high rate anyway. The Danes use every chance they get to shop abroad.

I’ve long admired the Scandinavian countries, particularly Denmark. For all their progressiveness, in many ways, they have more freedom than we do. I did think the fat tax was a stupid idea. If the goal is to lower saturated fat consumption (a questionable goal as is) why would you put forth a law that taxes olive oil? At least it now appears they’re smart enough to not double down on failure like our progressives here. I’ve often told progressives I might be more willing to go along with their brilliant experiments if they showed any ability to admit they were wrong, learn their lesson, and go the other direction.

I don’t know. The low turnout seems to suggest millions refuse to make a choice between two European type of leaders which gives me hope for the future that when the party leadership designed to run an Americian based type of leader the people will turnout in droves to confirm that person.
