Another interesting claim about Petraeus and Broadwell

posted at 10:13 am on November 10, 2012 by

Ed’s got a smart post that asks several good questions coming up on the main page in a few hours, and I want to be careful not to preempt it. So let me present this without comment and ask you to bear it in mind when reading his:

Update: Little bit more from Fox News:

The [FBI] was alerted that biographer Paula Broadwell, with whom Petraeus had the affair, may have had access to his personal email account.

The investigation began when someone reported suspicious emails allegedly from Broadwell to the FBI. The agency then determined that she allegedly had emailed a number of government employees. The FBI was at one point trying to determine whether any of the employees were being stalked, sources told Fox News…

Source said the FBI investigation ended when the agency determined no criminal acts had been committed.

The only way she could have had access to his personal e-mail account without committing a criminal act is if he had let her access it, no? Talk about a lapse in judgment. And why was she sending weird e-mails to other government employees? Did she suspect him of having other affairs? Or did she feel scorned and started badmouthing him to his confidants as retaliation?

Update: Wow:

https://twitter.com/marcambinder/status/267292498513256448

https://twitter.com/marcambinder/status/267293341044068353

Petraeus himself was so alarmed by her behavior that he dropped a dime on her?

Update: Now I’m really confused:

At some point after Petraeus was sworn in as CIA director on Sept. 6, 2011, the woman broke up with him. However, Petraeus continued to pursue her, sending her thousands of emails over the last several months, raising even more questions about his judgment.

If Petraeus was the one pursuing her, why was the FBI investigating her for possible stalking of other government employees?

What an unbelievable mess.

Sure was nice of everyone to keep it under wraps until after election day. Our media disgusts me.

ProfessorMiao on November 10, 2012 at 11:05 AM

of course let’s blame it on the vamp instead of Petraeus the Penis. Not the honorable man everyone has touted him to be. Betrayed his wife, betrayed our ambassador and navy seals and America if he’s covering for Obama. Convenient that he would withold this info until after the election isn’t it.
As we peel the onion the source of the stand down must be the President. That is a dereliction of his duties and an impeachable offense. We need to keep talking this up intil everyone else is talking about it too. The salacious affair will help us but it’s just the bait to get the msm to talk it up as well.

Newsmax said he wanted her back and sent thousands of emails. If true, that would probably explain what he was distracted with during Benghazi.

An affair can end, while the emotional turmoil of the participants continues.

Dextrous on November 10, 2012 at 11:12 AM

Petraeus himself was so alarmed by her behavior that he dropped a dime on her?

Hmmm…

1. Why did Petraeus sit by while she wrote that article released the day before the election?
2. Why didn’t Petraeus tell her to clean up her web presence? Her facebook and her husband’s facebook was fully up and her twitter still is… she tweeted out the article.

So we’re trying to figure out who was more cra-cra, the bimbo or the director of the CIA. Nice. This is a great country we’re living in. Just great.

Rational Thought on November 10, 2012 at 11:25 AM

However, Petraeus continued to pursue her, sending her thousands of emails over the last several months

What?

“Thousands” means at least 2000.

“Several months” means probably at least three.

So let’s say 2000 emails over 100 days. That’s 20 a day. From a Four Star General who is now the DCI? Not likely. Doesn’t makes sense. Even 10 a day for 200 days doesn’t make sense.

As with much of the rest of the story, it doesn’t add up or make sense. Add in the Benghazi connection, another story that doesn’t make sense, and it keeps getting stranger and stranger.

However, the hyper-critical, hyper-curious, hyper-skeptical, hyper-suspicious professional busy bodies in the MSM will probably still find it uninteresting and boring.

There’s no way he would have been allowed to be in this position under these circumstances, so easily black mailed by an outside rogue force. Unless an inside rogue force saw the opportunity to have a cia chief puppet on a string.
As for the onion peeling, when he finally had to say, “look it wasn’t me or us (the cia) that denied the embassy support”, well his usefullness was over. No he didn’t point at Barry but that’s where curios minds of course look to, chain of command and all. His defense of himself sold out the one, time to go.
The rest is chatter by msm shot out in scatter form for the randomness pattern. So don’t expect them to go for bait. These are highly trained drones with specific talking points. Asking for the master’s accountability is no where near the clip board.

JFK had numerous affairs, supposedly, while prezzy and we all know about Slick’s trailer park trolling. What’s with these people that they don’t even consider that this kind of thing gets out and ends up ruining lives. If she had access to his email what else did she have access to?

Still all hearsay. Too many leaks for my taste. We now have heard more about this than why a video and a street riot was blamed for a coordinated attack by no less than three heavily armed teams against an embassy and a CIA safe house in Benghazi.

i want to add, i had actually forgotten about the palin email thing until now, but it just reminds us all of the media double standard. remember how much they covered that email story? they made a huge deal out of it. big breaking news, we must investigate right now. we must have live video of the people going through the email documents. we must continually bring you updates on sarah palin’s scandalous emails.

yet on the other hand, they don’t want to cover benghazi…

Yeah I was mulling the same numbers and thinking WTF? If the MSMemies do turn away from this it will be simply more proof of their collusion, but I fully expect the British press to pick up the torch and show them how you investigate the salacious stories.

That isn’t plausible.

No point in typing that — farsighted already hashed it — but, the point — it might just be character assassination. Not that I think Petraeus is the good. I can’t know.

Oldest trick in the modern book, read carefully:
EMAIL IS NOT SECURE IN ANY WAY. All the data is easily forged.
Only thing easier is to dump a bunch of porn on his work computer.

Using email as evidence is like using screen door to keep out the rain.

The only real evidence is that these people are not denying.

Deny, deny, deny.

My boss told me eight to ten years ago, never write anything in an email that you don’t want anyone else to read. Did they skip that rule in the Army and CIA?
I never write anything in my personal or office email that I do not want anyone else to read, don’t they realize how much info is out there for the hacking or tracking?

I was disappointed in the General about his silence on Benghazi, which i why I suspect the timing of this is a week before he was to testify. It’s too convenient. they held off until after the election and I am more PO’d than I have been since O won again.

ellifint on November 10, 2012 at 7:53 PM

The conflicting stories spell bull$hit. It’s more likely that someone who knew about the affair leaked it to Holder who then told his people to dig, dig, dig. They probably wanted to use it as leverage against Petraeus only he wasn’t going to play the game so he admitted an affair and resigned.

Wendya on November 10, 2012 at 11:59 PM

Might this connect the dots? WH tells P to keep quiet before election & resign in disgrace or the lady does 20 years. Look for verdict of congress investigation that Benghazi was 100% CIA fvckup.
