Finally: Cher and Kathy Griffin weigh in on the election

posted at 4:45 pm on November 3, 2012 by

A new dispatch from liberal America, where the economy is the 99th or 100th most important issue of the election. I know red-staters have been reserving judgment on how to vote until they heard from these two and Lena Dunham, so here you go; cast your ballot secure in the knowledge that you’re now fully informed, particularly vis-a-vis how much Richard Mourdock and Paul Ryan love rape. Over at NRO, Kevin Williamson reflects on “the Dumb Vote”:

For the Dumb Vote, voting is simply an expression of affiliation, a way of marking one’s membership in the tribe of the compassionately ironic or ironically compassionate or whatever. It is a gesture for people who are absolutely certain that they are right — not because they have any meaningful information, but because they are absolutely certain that the other side is evil, which is why they so quickly and consistently revert to claims of racism against a movement that includes lots of non-white partisans, claims of misogyny against a movement that includes an enormous number of women, claims of aspiring Christian theocracy against a movement that includes a great many non-Christians and that is noted for its affinity with the Jewish state, etc.

Watching this, I remembered that the Twitchy crew follows Cher on Twitter so I checked in to see what thoughts she might have had lately about the other side being evil. Situation: Dire.

Is she saying that she … actually prefers the Bushitler to Romney? I expected we’d reach that point soon after Romney was elected and the left dusted off its old “truth to power” shtick, but here we are a few days out from voting and we’re already seeing it. Any readers have a second-grader in the house who’d be willing to read that last tweet for us and tell us what she’s trying to say?

I stopped watching at the point where they started complaining about “forcible rape”.

They try to lay this at the feet of Paul Ryan, yet apperantly they have never heard of the FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION:

Forcible rape, as defined in the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, is the carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will. Attempts or assaults to commit rape by force or threat of force are also included; however, statutory rape (without force) and other sex offenses are excluded.

I am just going to say no comment. I can’t say what I really would like to say on this board.

Nice one.

Oh brother. I begged myself not to click on this one, but I did and it was just as I’d figured. Why do celebrities dislike genuinely nice people?

BettyRuth on November 3, 2012 at 5:31 PM

I don’t see how it can possibly be tempting to go there. Why would anyone be interested in what that high school dropout thinks (and griffin appears to be even more stupid if that’s possible). I have never understood why people care what celebrities think about anything, as if these celebrities were in any way competent on the subject of current events or political science or anything other than their own make-believe world. They are just world-class stupid.

Can’t get much more anti woman than Chastity Bono.
