Video: Kirsten Powers, Judith Miller Rip Media Over Benghazi

posted at 4:38 pm on November 2, 2012 by

Watch as a lifelong Democrat and a New York Times Pulitzer Prize winner rake the MSM over the coals for their scandalous, avert-your-eyes treatment of this earthquake-level story.  Powers even suggests the media’s behavior (with some notable exceptions) is as outrageous as the massacre itself.   Take it away, ladies:

“The mainstream media is absolutely pathetic. It’s no longer possible to defend them.”

There’s a passing reference to a point Jonah Goldberg’s been making on this, and it’s a good one:  The media collectively freaked out over a decades-old DUI revelation about George W. Bush in the week leading up to the 2000 election.  Yet here we have four dead Americans (including a sitting Ambassador), evidence of astonishing dereliction of duty at the highest levels, and a bona fide cover-up.  Crickets.

Yeah, well, Jake Tapper thinks it’s “Republicans (sic) operatives are fanning flames and creating suspicions where there’s no evidence of wrongdoing, trafficking in false rumors and idle speculation”, so not sure what these ladies are complaining about.

Two things- I’m not going to give Jake Tapper a big “attaboy” for anything. His small bursts of honesty are few and far between, and two- Judith Miller irritates the heck out of me, because she is a Democrat that will occasionally criticize Obama, but not nearly as often as she criticizes Republican’s. She thinks she’s smarter than everyone else on any panel.

Jonah doesn’t think there is a conspiracy here but I disagree. And it is not with the White House. If it wasn’t for New Media, think of what our knowledge would be limited to. I think the press is being derelict in their duty to keep the public informed. I think we have far too many people who think that they know what is best for us to know.

I agree, Tapper is a tease, not quite ethical but with glimpses of promise. Screw that.

Yeah, well he seem to forget who holds all the information cards and could clear all of this up p.d.q. if he wanted. I wonder why Obama doesn’t clear it all up for us?

Americans died,Obama lied! Impeach Obama!

Tapper is a pompous fraud who occasionally commits journalism.

He can whine about Republican “operatives” all he wants. He is the one on staff with George Stephanopolous.

He an his cohorts have done their best to bury this story until it can’t effect the election. Now, like the partisan pollsters, they will make a last second salvage effort to recover their credibility.

Too late.
