The French Connection. 10 times in succession. But don't forget that Onion parody of the Western, Sharon Stone's The Quick and the Dead. Which had the additional merit of introducing Russell Crowe (great acting, moronic politics) to the American audience.

I’ll recommend Unforgiven. Hackman plays the badass Little Bill.

Also I’ll also recommend Young Frankenstein. Hackman plays the uncredited roll of the blind man.

He’s a more interesting bad ass in French Connection II. One of the few excellent sequels out of Hollywood, directed by John Frankenheimer.

Actually, Hackman was trying to light a cigar for the monster, and set the monster’s thumb on fire. _That’s_ why he freaked out.

And I would suggest ‘The Conversation’. Paranoia at it’s finest. And just because you are paranoid doesn’t mean they are not out to get you.

Becker (the homeless guy) has a history of assault in Santa Fe. Several years ago he was locked up for assaulting a woman and her baby on a hiking trail here in Santa Fe. I expect Hackman’s report was accurate, this probably wasn’t just a case of aggressive rudeness on Becker’s part.
