Frankenstorm: The day after

posted at 3:15 pm on October 30, 2012 by

The city is crippled but I was extraordinarily lucky. No flooding, no power outage, just an overnight loss of Internet service that was repaired by noon today plus 12 hours of howling wind yesterday afternoon and evening. All set now for a full shift of blogging about … how nothing’s going on in the news except “Frankenstorm: The day after” coverage.

If you haven’t seen it yet, do not miss this Atlantic feature separating real photos of Sandy destruction from fakes that circulated yesterday on Twitter. Most, incredibly, are authentic; this one, of LaGuardia underwater, appears to be so too.

Glad you and the cat made it through the storm! We’d be lost without you and humpbot!

Are your cats recovering from the “howling wind”?

However did you survive, AllahPundit? Can you talk about it yet, or is the memory still too painful.

No intertubes all night? shudder.

Hope you have some hiking boots, looks like the subway is down for the count.

His cats saved him. They thought about letting him perish, but he’s the only one who knows how to work the can opener.

Good to hear, AP!!! And, good luck getting around town, the photos are surreal.

So what happened in Breezy Point? What caused the fire? Were those homes occupied or did the people vacate before the storm? Dealing with a hurricane and a fire would be tough.

Blake on October 30, 2012 at 4:57 PM

Glad to see that Chez Allahpundit weathered the storm.

First chance to check HotAir today, so I don’t know if it has been linked already but here is the Atlantic photo essay that moved this former New Yorker: Hurricane Sandy: After Landfall. Amazing, horrifying, and uplifting all at once.
