Michelle Obama violated debate prohibition against applauding

posted at 11:52 am on October 17, 2012 by

As commented on earlier, the agreed-to silence on the part of the audience at Hofstra University was broken at one point during Tuesday’s presidential debate by inappropriate and partisan applause. It turns out that one of the individuals who violated the promise to keep quiet—and, in so doing, a rule imposed by the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD)—was the spouse of one of the candidates. You get two guesses as to which wife couldn’t restrain her enthusiasm, though the answer is provided by an overhead camera shot of the audience captured by FOX News. In the video, which can be viewed at Real Clear Politics, Michelle Obama can be seen putting her hands together for her hubby at approximately 18 seconds in. This vidstill captures her mid-clap.

In addition to moderator Candy Crowley’s reminder at the outset of the debate that “the audience here in the hall has agreed to be polite and attentive—no cheering or booing or outbursts of any sort,” Article 9, Section A, Subsection 7 of a CPD “memorandum of understanding” clearly states that the audience will “not to applaud, speak, or otherwise participate in the debate by any means other than by silent observation.”

As RCP notes, “Nearly all of the audible applause came from those sitting away from the actual debate,” making Mrs. Obama the lone miscreant. For the record, Mitt Romney’s wife, Ann, was also sitting with the debate participants but was able to keep her hands still.

She’s classless. What more can be said?

Tsk. Tsk. Rules don’t apply to FLOTUS. And the Obamuh supporting undecideds just followed her lead in knee-jerk fashion so we know the audience was no less left-leaning and liberal-biased than was the moderator.

Aw, c’mon! It’s black culture to spontaneously erupt into loud approval while watching events on a stage/podium/altar. We must all be ra-a-acist to think that clapping (despite being against the specified rules) is a bad thing, when it is clearly being done by a black person.

Maybe she was being harassed by horseflies?

Imagine if Laura Bush had done that.

But, of course, you can’t.

So what’s new? The Dems continually break the rules, violate laws, lie, cheat, steal – and they get away with it. They are NEVER held accountable for it.
I hate to say this, but – why not break the rules all the time if you know you will get away with it?

One of my co-workers said last night during the debate – “my dad said I would get in less trouble for telling the truth than if I got caught lying about something I did wrong – but when I lied I didn’t get caught and didn’t get in trouble at all – and even a kid can understand that difference.” His point about Obummer constantly lying.
