CNN reporter Peter Hamby sends Obama donation request form to Twitter followers

posted at 1:30 pm on September 16, 2012 by

Imagine that you were a broadcast journalist and wanted to alert viewers who follow you online that the president was making a campaign stop in a particular battleground state. You might send out a message on a social network, say Twitter, reading, “President headed to battleground state of Wisconsin: Will be in Milwaukee next weekend.” You’d still be well under the 140-character limit on Twitter.

If you wanted to provide more information—one, say, that gave the date of the visit and cost to attend a fund-raising reception—you might link to as Associated Press dispatch with that information.

Or, if you’re CNN’s Peter Hamby, you could link to a page on the Obama campaign website that contains an interactive donation form so that readers could not only plan to attend but part with a little cash to help advance “the cause” while they’re at it.

Noel Sheppard at Newsbusters calls this “the height of journalistic malpractice,” reminding readers for good measure that CNN’s slogan is “the most trusted name in news.”         Not to quibble, but for my money reporters shilling for Obama reached the height of journalistic malpractice during the DNC when they gave fake names so they could buy official Obama-Biden paraphernalia and contribute to the re-election campaign.

It remains a point of fascination that the Democratic Party claims the high ground on the issue of fairness while conveniently overlooking the reality act that the mainstream media have their backs.

Update 9/19 (Ed): Peter Hamby sends me this Media Bistro link to explain why he tweeted this link out, and he did offer two tweets later as an explanation as well:

It’s news that Obama is returning to Wisc. I linked to page where the trip was first revealed, which happened to be a fundraising page (1/2)

— Peter Hamby (@PeterHambyCNN) September 17, 2012

News can often be found on fundraising pages – I was simply alerting people to Obama’s change in strategy (2/2)

— Peter Hamby (@PeterHambyCNN) September 17, 2012

I think that’s a fair point.

Took a peek at Hamby’s twitter feed. What a hack for Obama! My lord, he’s over the top. He’s now implying that Ryan is a confederate. Sheesh!

I don’t pay ANY attention to anyone from the MSM anymore.
They are all part of the NWO/SORROS team.
I focus on eliminating the Fascist/Alinsky scourge from my country.
R/R are placeholders until we can put true Constitutionalists in the White House.
Vote R/R on 11/6….your life depends on it.

Imagine what an embarrassment it’s gonna be to the slimestreamers when Ocelebrity loses despite their best subversive unethical behavior. Oh the humiliation to come!!

It is time for a little Joe Q. Public v Media apparatchiks town hall.

Set it up like a sting operation. Invite them all under the pretense of honoring them, seat them at a banquet table at the front of the room, then lock the doors and raise the lights on the “audience”.

Hit them on their views, their malpractice, their laziness, their wanton flaunting of their mandate to vet the CinC, and their utter inability to engage in self-criticism.

I would pay big bucks to anyone willing to help get this rolling.

Do you think that ‘facts’ will make any difference to people who are heavily emotionally invested in lies/fiction?

I suspect that if Mr Obama loses then a good many people will take his defeat as evidence that secret, malignant forces have conspired against him.

So your answer is “Sit on your heiny come Nov 6 because you can’t be bothered to vote for the lesser evil, until you can vote for a Constitutionalist????”

Remove the chip from your shoulder.

No, the answer is to vote for a Constitutionalist. Your false choice is just that: a false choice; there are more than two options.

Look at you fools, arguing FOR voting for non-Constitutionalists and voting for evil.

Solid principled ground you’re standing on.

Ok, please go do your usual “I’m voting for some no-name loser because I’m just so principled like that, you idiots” shtick somewhere else, please. You’ve let us all know that you want to be seen as special. We get it, now please stop with the off-topic garbage.

I hope this gets a lot of coverage. Has CNN responded?
