Hurricane Isaac and the law

posted at 9:07 pm on August 23, 2012 by

Romney is the presumptive Republican nominee. He’s sitting on a big pile of money he can’t spend until he is formally nominated.

The convention is scheduled for next week. Right now there’s a tropical storm in the Atlantic, Isaac, which might become a hurricane, and might hit Tampa next week. I’ve seen reports that the convention might be cancelled.

If that happened, what becomes of Romney and his money pile? When and how does he become the legal candidate, unlocking his pile and permitting him to start buying advertising with it?

Do the delegates have to choose the delegate at the convention, legally? Couldn’t they just submit their votes on paper or even in email?

“Tampa mayor will call off convention if TS Isaac threatens; storm strengthens“

Didn’t the Governor tell him to stick it in his pie hole.

They don’t even need the convention. Obama can have his and he’ll still lose.

They hold the ‘convention’ in a Motel 6, nominate Romney and get on with it.

So they hold the RNC a few weeks late and Romney has more money to spend in a shorter period of time which means extra ad blitzes to slam Obama the final week of the campaign when people are out early voting leading right up to election day.

Interesting. If Isaac does do its worst, current predictions are that it arrives in Tampa on Tuesday. Seems they’re going to get the nomination out of the way Monday night (the first night) instead of waiting for the last day of the convention as is traditional.

I’d almost rather see them delay the RNC for a week. There’s something really screwy about this Biden stunt and I’m afraid there’s some sort of dirty trick planned for Monday or Tuesday. Whatever it is I’d rather see it disrupted and the best way for that to happen would be for the RNC to be delayed a week by the weather.

I would like to see the Convention especially with the wind and rain. Can you see Biden outside trying to protest while nature is giving him a beat-down? :)

+100000. I thought exactly the same. Run the convention! Do hair plugs melt in water?

Let them ask Obummer…I’m sure that he knows a way around it and has the experience to do it illegally.

He’s from Chicago-hood, remember?
