The Masters ~ Final Round
posted at 12:32 pm on April 8, 2012 by Rovin
While Freddie Couples faded yesterday, Phil Mickelson shot a stellar 66 to put him into position for a fourth Green Jacket. Meanwhile, Tiger, Rory, Sergio, and several others had their “A-Games” fall to mystery of Augusta’s trance.

Nive triple bogey there, Phil.

So far two aces and a double eagle today… clearly a special Masters in the making.
If Phil makes the turn only three or so off the lead, though, he could be in his element. Still not over.
That said, Oosthuizen’s clutch pars are reminiscent of Harrington’s Open championships. St. Andrews 2010 proved he can control the nerves too. I wouldn’t want to have to chase him down.
And speaking of Harrington, the fact he’s even in it is a pleasant surprise. If it were 2008, I’d be crazy excited for him right about now.

Bubba!!!

Good win from Bubba and nice steady showing from Oosty.
Pretty big ego-boosting weekends out of Poulter and Harrington too. Both have probably been seeking some reassurance that they can be competitive in Majors again in their career and may have received it. If they can show any consistency over the next couple of months – clean up the putting in Paddy’s case – they could be among those to watch at the British Open.

The shot Bubba hit out of the woods on the 2nd playoff hole was freaky insane. He had to hook that ball something like 40 yards and get the distance correct. Deserving victory for Bubba.

Paraphrasing a statement uttered under more serious circumstances…..
“Never have so few provided so much great sports excitement to so many!”
What a great day for the Masters and for Golf!

Hope y’all had a nice visit in my lovely back yard. It was a memorable week, even by Masters’ standards. We will welcome all who respect the game and tradition again next year. Even liberal fans are welcome.

How typical of ESPN to cut off Watson’s speech after he mentioned “Jesus Christ.”
