Absolutely no spin at all: how the AP reports Obama’s hostage crisis in Egypt

My, doesn’t the Associated Press bring an even hand to this story?

Official: US seeks end to Egypt NGO case in days

By MATTHEW LEE
Associated Press

RABAT, Morocco (AP) — A senior U.S. official says the Obama administration is in “intense discussions” with Egypt to resolve the legal case against 16 American democracy advocates that has badly damaged ties between the countries “in the coming days”

The official, speaking to reporters on condition of anonymity due to the delicacy of the matter, said Saturday that Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton had raised the matter twice in person with Egypt’s foreign minister – once in London and once in Tunis – in the past three days and that other senior U.S. officials are actively involved.

The administration has been calling for the case to be resolved for weeks in a manner that allows seven of the implicated Americans who have been barred from leaving to leave the country.

Please note that the words “hostages”, “crisis”, “Carter”, and “SCOAMF” were carefully omitted from the AP’s crack reportage.

Which is why Americans regard the Associated Press with roughly the same level of disdain as they had for Pravda during the Nikita Khrushchev era.

Come on, DB! It’s not like some Egyptian students stormed an embassy or something! This is just a simple misunderstanding, and as soon as our esteemed Secretary of State is forced to release a harshly worded letter in public, this will all be over without the necessity of military intervention. /

Kind of reminds me of Jimma. Without the coverage. What a bunch of pukes we have for reporters. Makes me sick!!!

What, you don’t think Obama’s wholly-owned subsidiary, the MSM, should be doing everything it can to cover his incompetent a$$?

AP and Reuters have not only a wire service but also a full-bore editorial service. US and western news outlets just take the wire service and editorialize all they want. Their middle eastern clients buy the whole enchilada.

So yes, their editorial slant is designed for a specific audience. A middle eastern one. Brief analaysis of their coverage of *anything* in the middle east points out their extreme aversion to rocking the boat with their very lucrative clients.

Shouldn’t this posting be reported to Attack Watch?

SCOAMF, hah.

Decidedly inconvenient. Have to surf all over the place these days to get an unbiased picture of anything and still not sure when you have.

Shocked? Nope.

Disgusted? Yup.

Chance that these folks being used as pawns by both government will end up on the wrong side of dead?

Better than half.

Pray for them, HA….

All the people in Iran had diplomatic immunity and carter had a legal reason to go to war but they knew he would not because muslims in Afghanistan burned our embassy down and killed the staff months earlier. The people in Egypt have no diplomatic immunity and even if they did obama would either take a vacation or go golfing.

barred from leaving to leave the country

Yep, I guess to leave the country, you’ve got to be leaving?

If somebody burned some Qurans, and some Muslims were therefore incensed to killed Michelle Obama, would Barack Obama apologize ?

Cut off foreign aid to Egypt forthwith. No explanations, no negotiation, no apologies (especially not from Sister Barry). Money talks.

The problem is that apparently Egypt doesn’t really care about foreign anyway, and the weapons bought with that aid are basically wasted. This may be the exact reaction they are trying to provoke.
