Facebook Photos Lead Police To Suspects In Burglary
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Police say they stole thousands of dollars in cash and goods, and then posed with their loot and posted the photos to a popular social media site.
Police say the three suspects, along with another teen, posted the photos on Facebook about an hour after they burglarized Elliott’s Town Market on Chartiers Avenue in the West End.
“We received information the day after the burglary that these pictures were posted on Facebook, and if you look at the pictures, you can see that the individuals are holding a large amount of cash,” Sgt. Kevin Gasiorowski, of the Pittsburgh Police, said.
Officials say $8,000 cash isn’t the only thing the teens took from Elliott’s.
“Numerous boxes and cartons of cigarettes, cartons of candy, checks and approximately $8,000 dollars in cash,” Sgt. Gasiorowski said.
A family member of one of the teens is the one who spotted the pictures online and tipped off police, officials said.
Now if we can get Jon Corzine to sign up for Facebook. Or Eric Holder? Could you just see the headlines? “CASH AND WEAPONS DISCOVERED ON FACEBOOK POST—CRIMINAL INDICTMENTS EXPECTED”

Haha, a good laugh on this Friday. Way to go for the family member turning in the teens. Hopefully some good parenting will come into play.

I’m continually amazed at how stupid people are about posting things out on the internet – Facebook, etc. I know a Colorado State Patrol recruiter who says a LOT of candidates for law enforcement at all levels are knocked out of the hiring process specifically because of what they post on Facebook and similar sites.

Kudos to the family member who said something.

Seriously I weep for the future. I am dumb/lazy/insane enough to commit a high profile burglary and then post pictures on facebook? We should do humanity a favor and fix them all because they’re too stupid to breed.
I can only imagine how difficult that was for the family member but good on them.

I’d like to smack that smug smile off that little prique’s mug shot. Used to be the cops would tell you to get serious. maybe when he met his cell mate, Big Bubba Joe, he smiled a little less.

These kids have graduated from parental control. Some of them may still qualify for the juvenile justice system, but it seems to me that it’s too late for good parenting to have any effect.
One of the Bernhard Goetz muggers just committed suicide and these kids appear to be on the same path in life. The most the justice system can hope to do is to try to limit the damage they will do in the course of their destructive lives.
