I was born in 1956 and only Jimmy Carter comes close. America hiccuped in 2008, time to make up for that mistake. Nov 2012 cannot come fast enough.

According to Gallup, Reagan’s approval rating was 35% in January of 1983.

Correct, and G W Bush was at 25% in January 1983. The 47% figure is at the time of the election. Obama has been falling like a rock. I am doubtful that he will recover the needed support unless he is magically able to turn the economy around by Nov. 2012.

It is a point far south of the widely accepted cutoff of 47%, from which no incumbent ever recovered.
