Hot Air Post-Debate Poll Results

posted at 9:36 am on September 16, 2011 by

Not a lot of changes this round. Rick Perry still leads, followed by Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, Herman Cain and Michele Bachmann. Cain and Bachmann have changed positions since last we surveyed this. Questions? You can contact me here.

this looks like it will be romney v perry for sure…folks sitting on the fence for palin are shifting over to one of these guys now….

Michelle Bachmann: The thrill is gone.
Cain: He’s coming up

As I surmised, Cain is the conservatives that voters will fall back on, if the leading candidates stumble. I’m all for a three way fight between Mittwit, Perry & Palin. Cain will stay in as long as he can to siphon off the conservatives that don’t feel it for Perry or Palin.

Don’t think that’s happening wholesale yet. If Sarah makes it definitive that she’s not running, Perry & Cain will gain her supporters and to a lesser degree, if Michelle hasn’t dropped out, she’ll pick up some of Sarah’s supporters

good point, i think those who would go to michelle will more than likely go to cain or perry now since she is toast…

I don’t understand how little support Santorum has generated. He’s a well-spoken, consistent conservative.
Not moderate enough? Anyone have the answer?

Dang, the Romney supporters are way overrepresented in the comments in the threads.

I can see why the Palin and Romney supporters hate Perry.

I guess they need to drop the “flavor of the month” choice out of their “attack theme of the day” rotation.

Since this is after the last debate, probably the Gardisil issue too. But, they won’t.

As I understand it, his righty positions are new compared to how he presented himself as a senator. Not his fault, he was a senator from Pennsylvania.

I think it goes all the way back to 2004 when Santorum supported Spectre over Toomey, thanks in part to pressure from Bush. Snarling Arlen promised to support Bush’s two SCOTUS appointments if Bush would support his re-election. Nevermind that Toomey could have won if not being sandbagged by Bush and Santorum. This was a classic case of politics over principle. And Santorum is paying the price.
