What does Obama want?

posted at 2:08 pm on July 29, 2011 by

Q: What does Obama want?

A: He wants a huge, and permanent, increase in the size of government. This is the “change” he campaigned on, but never really described. The goal was to make the US into a European-style “Social Democracy”.

Q: Does he really think he can finance it indefinitely with huge deficits?

A: Of course not. The plan was to corner the Republicans and force them to agree to huge tax increases in order to pay for it. So spending was raised first, and eventually the Republicans would face the choice of raising taxes or having the national debt spiral up to clearly unsustainable levels.

Q: Are Democrats in the House and Senate on board with this plan?

A: Mostly they are.

Q: Why haven’t they been honest about it?

A: Because they know that the majority of American voters would object. They’re trying to sneak the program through, relying on the fact that once it’s in place it will create its own constituency.

Q: Why haven’t the Democrats passed a budget for the last two years?

A: Because if they did, the cat would be out of the bag. It would be impossible to hide their real agenda if it was all down in black-and-white.

Q: And Obamacare is part of this?

A: Yup. The real goal all along was “single payer”, but that wasn’t legislatively possible even in a D-majority congress. So the bill was set up so that private insurers would continue, but the terms which would be forced on them would make them “voluntarily” leave the market. With no insurers remaining, the Democrats would then “reluctantly” pass a single-payer system.

Q: Is this something new?

A: Hardly. It’s the continuation of a process that began with FDR, and made huge gains with LBJ’s “Great Society”. Reagan tried to reverse it but failed. (Also, Reagan had other things to worry about, like winning the Cold War.)

Q: Is Obama going to win on this?

A: Your time is up. Please insert another quarter.

The plan was to corner the Republicans and force them to agree to huge tax increases in order to pay for it.

But these won’t pay for it. Which raises the larger point or question: the untenable world of the Left and what does it mean? How do you pay for something you can’t pay for? Does the Left realize tax increases, even taken to an absurd extreme, will not pay for it?

We are left with the notion of social collapse and the final authoritarian state that this implies. Is this what the Left really wants, ultimately? Or is it just where there atomizing and adolescent energy always leads?

“What does Obama want?”

Come on. That’s way too easy, no quarter necessary. Re-election of the Wunderkind just before declaring himself Barrious Optimus Prime.

Is there any other reasonable conclusion?

Tax increases can pay for it. Tax increases “only on the rich” won’t, though.

What the Dems want is a VAT, a big one. And at least in the short term (five to ten years) that would work.

In the long run it wouldn’t, of course, but they’re not thinking like that.

Steven Den Beste on July 29, 2011 at 4:32 PM

By the way, there’s no use arguing with me that it can’t work.

…or with them, either, for that matter.

Steven Den Beste on July 29, 2011 at 4:32 PM

When they say “Tax increases” they really mean Tax increases “only on the rich” anyways.

For the Democrats, It’s all about the redistribution of wealth.

The bottom 47 % should have to pay some taxes, but don’t expect them to back that idea.

Finally, instead of a VAT, what about the Fair Tax?

Chip on July 29, 2011 at 6:20 PM

The reason they like the idea of a VAT is that it’s invisible. Voters are paying it, but it doesn’t feel as if they are.

The problem with the Fair Tax is that voters will know they are paying, and know how much. That’s why you like it. It’s why the Democrats will avoid it like the plague.

Obama wants nothing less than the destruction of the United States of America as presently constituted.

“We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America”

Just words? No. A defining principle, that’s what that was, and a treasonous one at that.

Therefore, nothing short of the political destruction of Barack Obama and the rest of the Democrat Party will suffice to save the Republic.

It’s just that simple folks. The sooner we realize that the sooner we can get to the grim task of cleaning this mess up.

Forget tax increases only on the rich or evil corporations who are sitting on all their cash. The progs already have that money spent and are turning their sights on the money in our 401Ks and IRAs. They need it to run all those wonderful programs. We’ll love those programs because they’re going to help us, too.

In other words, they want to use deception while robbing everyone blind.

Does that sound like an honest and transparent way to run a government?

The National Socialist Left thinks that all wealth is “Collectively” owned, therefore to them it is perfectly acceptable for them to take your property because they don’t think its Your property.

Obama wants the same thing that every leftist wants: the death of liberty, an end to truth, and the institution of hell on earth.

Why?

Because they’re evil.

leereyno on August 3, 2011 at 2:51 AM

From now on, it doesn’t matter what happens in government. I really believe we’re past the point of no return, in global terms. A badly weakened America leaves a power vacuum and the very real possibility of another uncontrollable world war.
