NewsCorp Scandal—Open Thread–Update: Murdock Greeted With Plate of White Substance, Wife Smacks Assualtant

What’s Wrong With This Nation?

The national and world media are fixated on a phone hacking scandal by NewsCorp, and yet the liberal media ignores the fact that two American citizens were murdered at the hands of this Government by supplying weapons to Mexican Cartels.

But, by all means……let’s allow the “crucifixion” of  NewsCorp go forward.

“Let those who have not sinned, cast the first stone”

Update: After two hours plus of questioning the Murdochs, a “patron” appears from the side of the camera to present Mr. Murdoch with a plate of an unknown “white substance”.  Rupert’s wife reacted faster than the Bobbies and smacked the assailant right on the noggin.

I don’t know a whole lot about the British press, but from what I’ve read, these tactics are pretty commonplace. I know the BBC and Guardian are trumpeting the investigation, but I’d be surprised to learn they’ve been playing it straight all these years. I’d also be surprised is rank and file journalists at NOTW -who are now out of work- don’t come forward with information they know about these other news organizations. I suspect the BBC and Guardian papers have forgotten the Pandora legend.

Secondly, why would NewsCorps select to hack into 9/11 victims phones, emails, voicemails, or whatever? What’s the story they hoped to gain? Makes no sense to me and I can’t find anything that answers that question. Did Schumer and others just pick this demographic out of thin air or were there claims of this during the last decade?

As for the media- well, the question of why NewsCorps (by the way, Obama calls it News –Coor) and not Fast and Furious is obviously rhetorical.

Like I said in the thread yesterday, I think that ignorant liberals see all large conglomerates as McDonald’s, where the important decisions are all made at a corporate level, and the restaurants perform very, very minor variations on the overarching corporate theme. By this logic, phone tapping had to be known about, approved of, and implemented on the corporate level of News Corp.

Instead, I think the scandal was contained in NOTW, and News Corp should be on the hook for inadequately supervising NOTW. I doubt the phone-tapping went any higher than the editorial desk of NOTW.
