Chris Titus: I’d assassinate Sarah Palin if she was elected

posted at 10:02 am on June 7, 2011 by

In case there was still some residual confusion about the new tone favored by liberals after the Gabrielle Giffords shooting — you know, the tone that was supposed to curb violence by cutting out supposedly violent rhetoric — C-list comic Chris Titus has come along to give us a little lesson. From the Daily Caller, on Monday’s “Adam Corolla Show”, Titus explained how he would react to the hypothetical election of Sarah Palin as president.

“You know what man? I am going to literally — if she gets elected president, I am going to hang out on the grassy knoll all the time, just loaded and ready — because you know what? It’s for my country. It’s for my country. If I got to sacrifice myself, it’s for my country.”

This was in response to Palin’s comments on Paul Revere (which of course have been proved to be accurate, not that you’ll hear that in the mainstream media). And as you can hear in the video, the audience’s response was to laugh. Apparently, joking about assassination is A-OK as long as it’s someone like Sarah Palin. Yet somehow, it’s the right that supposedly needs lessons in civility. I guess we just don’t understand that it’s perfectly acceptable to murder someone for their political beliefs, so long as the murderer is a liberal and the victim is a conservative. No wonder these morons idolize people like Che Guevara.

Of course, this will be waved off as an overreaction by the too-sensitive right. But is it? Palin’s parents have said that they have to sleep with guns because of the death threats they receive. The FBI arrested a man who had sent photocopies of a receipt for a gun he had bought and of a one-way ticket to Alaska to the Heaths. A gun-toting Palin stalker was arrested 50 miles from her home. Sarah Palin has said herself that she receives death threats on a regular basis. Were Sarah Palin a Democrat, then these incidents would be all over the media. Titus’ remarks would be denounced as fueling violent rhetoric against an innocent woman just trying to serve her country. But, alas, Palin has an (R) next to her name instead of a (D). So death threats and stalkers are brushed under the rug, and assassination is comedy.

So much for civility in politics.

The violence inherent in the Left.

All C-listers.
It’s one thing to be an unfunny comic. It’s quite another to be a horribly ignorant, awfully hateful, terribly unfunny comic.

itsnotaboutme on June 7, 2011 at 10:18 AM

Nothing new. Remember “snipers wanted”? The amount of concern the left shows for political violence is proportional to the amount it is aimed at them. They support — not just turn a blind eye, but support and encourage — violence emanating from their own ranks.

Crawford on June 7, 2011 at 10:22 AM

I have long since come to the conclusion that as soon as leftists decide to truly implement the violence they fantasize about, and come face-to-face with the consequences of attacking well-armed conservatives, they’ll run in terror. It’s either going to remain bluster, or be a short-lived campaign.

MadisonConservative on June 7, 2011 at 10:22 AM

They should not be called progressives , they should be called projectionists.

And what many of them want to project is bullets.

This is the first I have heard of this guy in several years, since his sit-com failed and was canceled.

He was on a couple of hot rod car shows on TLC around that time also, I remember Chip Foose, the great custom car designer, built a pretty radical ’57 Chevy Bel Air convertible for him that he took on the Hot Rod Road Tour.

That must have been 6-8 years ago.

I wonder if he’s having financial trouble since it appears he blew a large portion of his TV money on over the top, multi-hundred-thousand dollar custom car projects.

It would explain a lot.

Or, he’s just a classless douchebag.

Door #3, all of the above.

Brian1972 on June 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM

never heard ofthis guy. Don’t worry Chris, Palin would most likely turn around and defend herself, putting one right between your eyes

Hmm, must be csdeven’s stage name.

ebrown2 on June 7, 2011 at 11:26 AM

So much for lefties liking gun control.

Kissmygrits on June 7, 2011 at 11:28 AM

If the left didn’t denounce Chauncey deVega for incendiary and racist comments against Herman Cain, they’re not going to pay the slightest bit of attention to this ignorant has-been. These people need to get over themselves and get real jobs so they can find out how ordinary people live (and lest you berate me for being an academic, I spent many years working in the private sector before coming to higher ed to impart a little common sense in a place that is relatively devoid of reason).

College Prof on June 7, 2011 at 11:38 AM

Pffft. If there’s anyone less likely to back up their big words with bullets than rev0lutionary fantasizers, it would be leftist has-beens like that dope.

Cassy, the 50 miles from her home was actually at the anchorage airport. 50 miles here is pretty much nothing…

So, is there a reason why Adam Corolla sits there like a lump an tolerates it? Would he do so if a conservative made a statement against Obama?

Yes, I was going to say, isn’t Carolla considered some kind of conservative?

It should be made clear to Townhall and his podcast’s sponsors that Titus’ behavior isn’t acceptable. That kind of crap isn’t funny.

Who sponsors the podcast?

Boycott.

Titus occasionally appears at the Houston Improv. He better watch his back next time he comes down here.

Doughboy on June 7, 2011 at 2:30 PM

So, would this be an FBI issue, or another agency?

The way I see it, by saying “literally”, he went beyond the line where he could claim he’s just a comedian speaking rhetorically. He made a specific death threat.

I listen to Adam Carolla’s show every day. He’s incredibly politically-incorrect, but I would say he’s fair about it. If someone came on and said the same thing about Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton, he’d laugh just as hard. In fact, there was quite the running gag about whether it was Osama or Obama that was killed in Abottabad. The left would have screamed.

However, if you’re set on telling his sponsors about how offended you are (and really, if you’re easily offended this show is definitely not for you), then he’s sponsored mainly by ProFlowers.com, Amazon and ManGrate. If you’re not faint of heart, though, and you can stand lots of profanity and little political correctness, listen to the show. There are a lot of smart points made between the jokes, and Carolla is probably the quickest comedian on the planet. He’s had Breitbart on the show several times, after all. Great shows too.

There’s little doubt any more that since the death of great Democrats like Scoop Jackson there was an influx of rabid, amoral/immoral anarchists/marxist/socialist/sexist/anti-Semitic racists who now control and represent the majority in the Democrat Party. Never in a million years would Democrats during Scoop’s active years have elected or tolerated the likes of Obama and his thugs let alone these nasty left wing pundits that foul today’s political discourse.

wtng2fish on June 7, 2011 at 3:11 PM

Adam Carolla is a pretty conservative guy and his podcast is great, I’m a big fan. But he’s also a comedian and his job isn’t to call out his guests for the stupid things they say. And believe me they’ve said some dumb things. And he absolutely would do the same thing if a conservative guest said the same thing about Obama. There just aren’t a lot of conservative people in the entertainment business so those guests are few and far between. Also conservatives don’t tend to say crap like that (except maybe Ted Nugent). A real douche like Bill Maher would have agreed with Titus and said even more hateful things. That’s not what Carolla is about.

It’s Chris Titus… who really cares what he thinks or says?

Sorry, but he should have called him out. It’s his show, he could have at least said something. He had a responsibility.

I’m by no means a Palin fan, but I would have called him out.

That kind of crap is not acceptable, and it annoys me that it seems to be okay to say things like that about a conservative, while making such a comment about a liberal politican would immediately have you labeled as a violence-prone right-wing neanderthal.

The point is, Carolla wouldn’t have called someone out who made such a comment about a liberal. He had no such double standard. While he maybe should have called him out on principle, he remains consistent.
