It’s Chris Christie Sunday!

Why? Because the Super Bowl isn’t until next Sunday which means you’ve got time today to watch a few new Chris Christie clips (and check to see if you missed any classic ones).
I’ll be posting 4-5 new Christie clips at my site Verum Serum throughout the day today. So as not to hog the bandwidth here in the Greenroom, I’ll post just one new clip, my favorite one, here later in the day.
First up, a little something to whet your appetite. A clip that suggests even former prosecutor Christie can appreciate the public’s view of lawyers:
There’s more and better coming but if you’re desperate, you can go back and enjoy these Christie classics:
- The Fun vs. The One – A fun clip and some thoughts about what it would be like to see Chris take on Barack in 2012 (sadly, it won’t happen).
- Just how desperate are liberals to stop the Christie juggernaut? This desperate.
- The 60 Minutes appearance – Christie is the go-to guy for tackling statewide financial problems.
- Democrats fear him.
- David vs. Goliath – Chris takes on David Gregory.
- Don’t make me “go Jersey” on you people.
- Awesome in Oregon – Before the election, Chris was traveling the country to support Republican candidates.
- Christie talking about the NJ legislature.
- Christie on what it takes to get a raise in public schools: “Are you still breathing?“
- Christie on the value of competition and the importance of rewarding excellence in education.
- Christie vs. NJ teacher’s unions.
- The “day of reckoning” is here.
- And the one that started it all…”You don’t have to do it.“
Like I said, there’s more coming…

I’m curious why it is so hard for Republicans to find a candidate who has simple executive capability, confidence and clarity such as Christie but who doesn’t feel compelled to take away guns and make wampum with Islam.

The search for a perfect candidate is futile, as no human being is perfect. Therefore, I have chosen the presumptive candidate (obviously not Christie, since he’s not running) who best reflects my own beliefs. I would encourage all of my fellow conservatives to do likewise.

Got it. But I don’t think my criteria calls for perfection.

Insofar as I wasn’t really directing that at you personally, I know they don’t. But what’s wrong with going to the primaries and voting for the candidate that comes closest to meeting your standards? The “qualifications” to be president are, 35 or older, and a natural-born US citizen. There’s a reason the founding fathers left the rest wide-open, right?

I agree. Absolutely nothing. What else can we do, finally? But I am finished with certain unacceptable compromises. There is an irreducible standard, after all. In any case, I’m confident we will have a candidate far better than Christie, one who does not force noxious trade-offs. Why should one have to abjure one’s second amendment rights to secure basic managerial competence? Absurd.
