CBS manages to find the sunshine in Chinese communist tyranny

Thank goodness CBS doesn’t get so high-and-mighty as to ignore the bright side of Beijing citizens being forced to live without heat during record low temperatures.

In one of the last vestiges of collective living, Beijing’s coal plants pump heat to city apartments on a strict schedule, from November 15 to March 15, every year. Since the 1950s, the schedule has rarely changed, even if temperatures plummet before the appointed day.

After enduring record heat-waves this summer, with the mercury soaring to its highest mark in 60 years, and thick pollution in the fall (which the government blamed on “fog”), Beijingers are now suffering through the early onset of bitter cold. China’s state-run media reported October 18 as the city’s coldest autumn day since 1986, with temperatures peaking at 48 degrees and then dropping to 44.

“Quit whining, peasants!” says CBS. “Your pain is nothing compared to Mother Earth’s pain!”

There is one silver — or green — lining to weeks of goose bumps. Beijing’s power plants burn through 41,000 tons of coal every day to keep the city’s residents warm in winter. That energy is saved each day the government keeps the radiators turned off.

Today, another story of the wisdom of communist dictatorship bobbed up from the depths of their hideously polluted rivers:

An eight-months pregnant woman was dragged from her home and forced to have an abortion because she had broken China’s one-child-per-family law.

Twelve government officials entered Xiao Aiying’s house where they hit and kicked her in the stomach, before taking her kicking and screaming to hospital.

There, the 36-year-old was restrained as doctors injected her with a drug to kill the unborn baby.

I thought I’d save CBS the trouble of flourishing too much nobility, and write them a nice little caveat for their report on this.

There is a silver, or rather green lining, to forced abortion in China. Human beings, as well as contributing to overpopulation and the diminishing of sustainability, produce incredible amounts of carbon dioxide and other toxins that increase the problem of climate change. By slaughtering this parasite of Gaia, the Chinese government is helping to combat the cataclysmic impact of global warming.

Elderly and infants living in unheated 44 degree houses and they are touting the green side of it?

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

All twelve ought to be dragged into the street and shot to death.

They will not escape justice forever, though.

The story about the forced abortion is vile but it is nothing new at all. This has been the status quo for decades.

Generally speaking, I think the Chinese government also engages in policies that are meant to thin out the population in a passive-aggressive manner.

Very poor and even life-threatening working conditions, totalitarian control of religious groups and certain ethnic minorities, and speech laws which protect those who allow these things to happen.

It is to the point where China even acknowledges its miserable working conditions as a selling point among international businesses. Even the Indian car maker Tata Motors is considering moving their operations there for cheaper labor!

Fair enough. I’ll go with that.

The logical extension of tyranny. The state is responsible for that mouth to feed, that healthcare to provide, etc etc.

Why should they not have a say in whether it exists or not?

It is the horrible, terrible evil result of state-welfare. It is no different here, we are simply not as far down that road yet. But the debates are already beginning. The value of life already being calculated. The euthanasia being prepared. The abortion mills sanitized for language that might pique anyone’s interest or second thought.

Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security etc etc.. it all leads inexorably toward this final awful result. So long as the state has a vested interest – it will have cause and right to put limits on behaviors and control individuals. It is all for the good of the majority.

Good job Al-Jazeera is on the case.

lexhamfox on October 22, 2010 at 5:08 PM

All of this isn’t surprising, really. As WashingtonsWake said, it’s the awful result of statist policies coupled with devaluation of human life. My question is: why is this OK when parents deem the life worth living or dying? It’s the same procedure, largely. Is this strictly an issue of property rights vs. tyrannical government? Or are we also mourning the loss of a human life?

That picture is sickening, by the way. She still had the child in her just after they injected her. I can’t even imagine that.

Absolutely horrifying. They thought they were exempt but there are no exemptions. So glad that Thomas Friedman sings China’s praises. And don’t forget that if you’re a Lib, the correct terminology is not “child”, it’s “fetus”.

Tyranny and desperation…not a pretty combination.

Now that Iraq is no longer in the Bush axis of evil, can we get Red China’s name in there?

Speaking of names, how & why does anyone say “The People’s Republic Of China” with a straight face?

Look at the trade imbalance and you’ll find the answer to both questions.

We could go for quite some time without Arab oil if we really had to. But our factories and chain stores could not go even that long without a constant stream of supplies from China, and you can’t drill for consumer goods or electronics.

And people think I’m exaggerating when I say that the Locust Lefties could be eating babies in the middle of Main Street at Disney World and the MSM would be touting new charcuterie recipes for the practice.
