Here Comes That Dreaded Lame-Duck Session

While the Democrats, (currently a majority in both the House and the Senate), plan on leaving at the end of the week without extending the Bush tax cuts, the Hill says our liberal friends are set to present and pass over 20 bills after they return from the November 2nd elections. Instead of working on legislation to put this country back to work, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Barack Obama spent more than a year passing a healthcare reform bill that a majority of Americans rejected.
With unemployment still hovering around 10%, and home foreclosures at a record pace, Democrats did virtually nothing over the past year to address the creation of jobs. Instead, Democrats are planning to return from their campaigning to cram their pet projects through in the lame-duck session:
Democrats to stuff 20 bills into post-election lame-duck session
Democrats are considering cramming as many as 20 pieces of legislation into the lame-duck session they plan to hold after the Nov. 2 election.
The array of bills competing for floor time shows the sense of urgency among Democratic lawmakers to act before the start of the 112th Congress, when Republicans are expected to control more seats in the Senate and House. link

The Democratic Party has failed to pass a budget, finally passed a small business bill dubbed a “MINI-TARP”, which directs regional banks to fund businesses with fewer than 500 employees. Although the legislation was supported by small business advocates, many complained of the bureaucratic red tape lawmakers wrote into the bill. If this is the best the Democrats can produce to jump-start the economy, it’s a sad reflection on a majority’s ability to address the real concerns of a crippled nation hungry for work.
If President Obama plans on signing any new legislation after November 3rd, let’s hope it’s the tax break extensions for everyone. The rest should wait until the new Congress is sworn in.

And this stuff will go through, and the repubs will get the bill and in 2012 will have to defend the whole thing collapsing. Wonder which side the media will be on for those discussions?

The West Virginia and New York Senate races are both special elections, so that means whoever wins gets to sit in on the lame duck session, right?
If just one of those races goes Republican, it’s doubtful they Democrats will get anything through.
