RUSHING TO JUDGEMENT—THE CHICAGO WAY: THE SHIRLEY SHERROD STORY

Shirley Sherrod’s untimely firing by the White House, (or as they claim, they only agreed with Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack’s decision) speak volumes about the knee-jerk reactions of an administration that consistently acts stupidly. The Liberal Democrats, the White House, and specifically, the NAACP have been caught in their own web of injecting racism into the political fray. Fearing a landslide of change coming in November, the liberals played their race card and got slammed by their own ineptness and yes, the rules of Alinsky.

Andrew Breitbart has to be pleased with his intended results. Breitbart, who has been a champion at fighting back against a liberal media, and their passive protection of Barack Obama’s administration, simply posted a video. After almost a week of the liberal media’s complicit endorsement of the NAACP’s false accusation that the Tea Party is wrought with racist, Mr. Breitbart made the decision to post what he had available to counter the NAACP’s unfounded and unproved attacks on the Tea Parties.

What followed has been a plethora of media mayhem, a crucifixion of a public servant by this administration, (and at one point the NAACP), where these tactics of injecting racism into the political process has backfired. Not since the Valerie Plame incident has the left-wing media and the liberal “progressives” been so tied up in their own demise.

For the record, Mr. Breitbart read, (on Hannity last night), a statement many have overlooked, yet bares the cross of this disingenuous plot by our liberal friends:

“Tainting the tea party movement with the charge of racism is proving to be an effective strategy for Democrats.  There is no evidence that tea party adherents are any more racist than other Republicans, and indeed many other Americans. But getting them to spend their time purging their ranks and having candidates distance themselves should help Democrats win in November. Having one’s opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness.” Mary Frances Berry—Professor of American Social Thought and History (emphasis mine) LINK

How’s that “effective strategy” working now Mary?

What a shame that woman’s long career ended this way. Sounds as if she really took her job to heart. Maybe this will open some more eyes to what dear leader is.

I’m still a bit unclear here; at first blush, this really looks like Breitbart ‘screwed the pooch’. But somehow now, all of this was his intended outcome?

So… if the content of the video (as he released it originally) had been accurate, he’d have ‘won’ and been a genius.

But when it blows up in his face… he’s still a genius?

Maybe I’m missing something – I like Breitbart a *lot* – but this seems like a case of everyone supporting ‘their guy’ no matter what he does, and doing their best ‘liberal spin job’ on it to make it a ‘win’ no matter what.

How did it blow up in his face?
The point of releasing it wasn’t to show that ultimately this woman was a racist. It was to show the NAACP cheering her racism. The NAACP was the target here, not Sherrod.
It’s nice that her story ended with a “road to Demascus” moment but it doesn’t take away the fact that the NAACP cheered her initial racism.

It’s not that Sherrod is currently a racist, it’s that the NAACP hierarchy applauded her for a past (20+ years ago) racist act in not giving “full force” to help a poor farmer who happened to have a lighter skin than hers.

It’s the same as when Bill Clinton, et al., excused Robert Byrd’s past KKK membership yet denounced Trent Lott for praising – somewhat stupidly – an old (& dying) colleague who used to hold similar views to Byrd.

Nice piece Rovin.

The leftists were out in force last night attempting to change the narrative. They lost.

The NAACP should have done more checking before throwing the woman under the bus. Didn’t hey have access to the entire speech? This woman may be a crook; I don’t know. But it just stunned me that the NAACP didn’t at least do a little research before condemning her.

You make no mention of Breitbait’s (or Hannity’s) lack of journalistic integrity and race-baiting. Watching those two talk race would have been hilarious if not such a tragedy. I may as well as been Amos n Andy.

Quite simply RC, I found none. The real tragedy is the liberal left’s, (including the NAACP, Obama, and every sorry excuse in politics), pathetic use of injecting racism when they no longer have a legitimate argument for their destructive policies. This tactic is the lowest form reached by the left, and I find it repulsive, though not surprising.
