Reid Supporters Play The Rape Card

posted at 9:35 am on July 9, 2010 by

We have seen this tactic before.

Last January, Democrats in Massachusetts sent out a mailer accusing Scott Brown of wanting to deny medical care to rape victims, because he had introduced state legislation providing health care providers with a religious conscience exemption to providing abortion-related services, so long as alternative arrangements were in place.

The provision proposed by Brown was almost identical to a provision which was in the Democratic health care bill crafted by Harry Reid.

Since such exemption would have applied even to circumstances where the abortion services arose out of a rape, the Democrats played the political rape card by sending a mailer claiming that Brown wanted rape victims turned away from hospitals.

Now we are seeing the rape card used against Sharron Angle because she is pro-Life.

On mulitple occasions, Angle has stated her personal belief that abortion is not justified because life starts at conception.  Since Angle’s view is that innocent life should not be taken, the circumstances of the conception make no difference.  As a result, Angle’s personal belief is that she would counsel even rape victims who become pregnant to consider carrying the child to term.

Angle’s personal belief is shared by tens of millions of Americans, and is the position of Catholic Church among others.

Predictably, Harry Reid’s supporters have tried to spin Angle alternatively as pro-rape or as someone who wants to force her view on rape victims.

But nothing Angle actually has said supports such conclusions, any more so than Scott Brown proposing a religious conscience exemption made Scott Brown pro-rape or hostile to rape victims.

Is Harry Reid pro-rape and hostile to rape victims because the health care bill has a religious conscience exemption which would apply even in cases of rape?

Playing the rape card is about as low as it gets.  But then again, when the goal is to “vaporize” your political opponents, nothing is beyond the pale.

Hey what did you expect, they are Democrats aren’t they. I think sadly for Democrats, the old lies are not going to work this time.

Simply awful, underhanded, lowlife tactics; oh wait… that is Harry Reid’s stock in trade… Snake oil salesmen eventually fail to draw of crowd; I think America has caught on to Reid’s tactics.

IntheNet on July 9, 2010 at 10:44 AM

Filthy Harry G”Reid”Y is just another Pro Murder DemocRat. Does this really surprise anyone? This scumbag has been ripping off the people of Nevada since he got into office. How many pieces of property did his kid rezone for him, that made them… How many millions of dollars? There’s a reason his kid won’t use his own last name in his campaign ads for Governor. Bend over and grab your ankles Nevadans, Filthy Harry G”Reid”Y isn’t done with you yet.

I thought Harry Reid claimed to be prolife?

The level of evil that Reid will go to is unpredictable. As in past, racial hatred and class envy has dominted their entire theme. The desperation of the demonrats will cause them to intensify the race card to the point of violence with the MSM used as tools to brand anyone, who disagrees with the most corrupt administration in history,as being illiterate racists. Its who the demonrats are.

The OP misses a very important point here. Not only is Angle’s opinion shared by millions of Americans, the Catholic church, etc, but it is also the opinion of the Latter Day Saints (Mormons) – Harry Reid’s faith.

I know that he tries to avoid the issue because he doesn’t want to upset his base, but if pinned down on it I believe he does agree with his church leaders. So his supporters are slandering Angle for an opinion he shares with her.

..must be because of the sexy, low-cut, revealing dresses and hyper-short mini-skirts she wears. I mean, someone who dresses and looks like the does is just asking for it!

Harry Reid wants doctors to be forced, against their conscience, by the government, to kill babies.

And not just cracker babies!

Man, what a douchetool Reid is.

Merovign on July 9, 2010 at 1:46 PM

My father always told me “If you dance to the music, you have to pay the piper”. Although they did nothing wrong, innocent babies will end up paying the piper and subhuman monsters will defend or participate in this heinous process and believe that their actions are somehow virtuous.

This tactic worked out very well for Marcia Coakley, didn’t it?

It won’t work for Reid either. Noe will campaign appearances by Bozo, which they will probably have to conduct in somebody’s kitchen if his audiences get any smaller. Or perhaps they will bring SEIU goons to fill a high school cafeteria?

We just came back from a visit with my husband’s birth-mother, whom we found and met 15 years ago. She was raped, and gave birth to my husband, whom she put up for adoption.

She has no regrets, a cheery disposition, three more grandchildren to love, and a clear conscience. That’s a lot more than I can say for other women I know who decided to abort because they just weren’t ready to be a mother. Sharron Angle’s position is not only pro-life, it’s pro-women’s mental health, too!

Besides, it’s never made sense to me to give the death penalty to the child for the crime of the father. Thank God, literally, that my husband’s mother didn’t!
