The War on Sarah Palin Really is a War on Conservatives

posted at 4:49 pm on June 26, 2010 by

It’s getting rather old, but the Left continues to attack one of the most influential conservative women alive today: Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

When she was invited to speak at Stanislaus university in California last Friday, leftist students immediately went through trash cans, trying to figure out how much Palin was being paid. They organized protests, asked their friends of the mainstream media for help, and altogether did their best to ruin what eventually became the most successful fundraising dinner in the university’s history.

The material recovered by the students, which detailed perks such as first-class airfare for two and deluxe hotel accommodations, prompted California Attorney General Jerry Brown to launch an investigation into the finances of the university’s foundation arm and allegations that the nonprofit violated public disclosure laws.

Would they have done the same thing if Palin was a leftist? Have you ever heard of progressive students protesting against the speaking fees of, say, Al Gore or Hillary Clinton? No, of course you haven’t. That’s because this is not about fairness or money but about Palin’s ideology. She is a conservative, and that’s reason enough for leftist students to ruin her evening and to disgrace the university that invited her.

This non-scandal once again proves that conservatives are engaged in a political war with progressives. Too often conservative pundits and politicians think we should be ‘civilized’. We should not, because our enemies certainly are not either. When you are engaged in a war all that matters is that you win. If this means you have to fight dirty every now and then, so be it. The Left understands this, too many on the Right do not. Let Palin’s treatment at Stanislaus serve as a wake up call for those who still believe that manners matter.

Would they have done the same thing if Palin was a leftist?

Of course not.

My idea of Sarah’s intentions as a speaker is so she can serve her country and fight to rescue it back from the wretched mobs rather than serve Alaskans only. If we had more women that could take it like her, they would hate them as well. Progressives are much quicker to recognize an eroding base then Conservatives. Conservatives are blinded by morality and trust all people have a preference for morality. Progressives are driven by just the opposite mentality and can easily spot the moral ones leaving, or considering leaving their inferno. Sarah is a fire hose.

There is an amazing disconnect on the left, where students who proudly proclaim themselves to be liberal, and to believe in diversity, work actively to suppress opinions with which they disagree.

This is, as you know, a well documented phenomenon; Ann Coulter and both Goldbergs have written on this. Journalism schools and newspapers are notorious bastions of monolithic non-diversity,

Hey, don’t get the wrong idea from the wording that the left ruined the night… Sarah was fantastic and gave a great speech… in her usual unusual cadence (she does that so you have to pay attention, you can’t get lazy listening to Sarah)…anyway, great speech that was well received and did us conservatives proud… she brought up some new ideas and themes as well…
here is the best quality video of the speech…

I love the woman (in a purely political way), but I have to admit there is some justification for criticising her “word salads”. It does sometimes drive me nuts.

That said, I think it’s partly a product of both lack of experience speaking ‘off the cuff’ and an over abundance of caution. Both of these should somewhat correct themselves with experience and constructive criticism from those with the experience and whom she trusts.

I disagree with the author’s conclusion that we on the conservative side have to play dirty. I don’t view the leftists any differently than the Islamists or even computer hackers for that matter.

Conservatives have to know their enemies tactics, modus operandi, and ideological underpinnings.

We don’t need to play dirty, we need to be smart and expose them for what they are and not be afraid of speaking the truth, for their operation will be degraded when people really know what they are about. Look at the damage ACORN suffered from Breitbart, O’Keefe and Giles just showing them as they really are.

Know thine enemy and use their own mass against them.

What you fail to realize is that Liberals and Conservatives are NOT at war with each other…

They are at war to win the minds of the tens of millions of people who vote but don’t care. That’s why the left is full of catch-phrases and one-liners.

There is no denying that the Left is winning this war. When Gallop shows 20% of the nation admitting to being liberal, then something is wrong.

The Left has made their talking points become what appears to be “common knowledge” and that is their goal. Conservatives have work to do, and they have to explain themselves while also explaining why the Left is a bunch of rabid lying evil liars.

But this is what really made me laugh:

We don’t need to play dirty, we need to be smart and expose them for what they are and not be afraid of speaking the truth, for their operation will be degraded when people really know what they are about. Look at the damage ACORN suffered from Breitbart, O’Keefe and Giles just showing them as they really are.

What O’Keefe and Giles did was play dirty, yet you begin this comment with “We don’t need to play dirty”.

That doesn’t even make sense

All that is *really* needed is a “Batman” of a conservative stripe. Let “Commissioner Gordon” and the police force do the upright, morally correct, and legal stuff.

The Batman, on the other hand, should use whatever tactics required to take down the Jokers, the Riddlers, and the other garbage that the Left routinely deploys against the electorate.

It is definitely a war, but to win, you got to have both a white knight, as well as a dark one.
