Art for God’s Sake

Who’s ready for a Video Daily Double? Okay, here goes: “It is the identity of the subject of this soon-to-be-removed statue from a park in Indonesia.” Was your guess Who is “Little Barry” Obama? Did you remember to phrase it as a question?
So what exactly is it that the people of Jakarta have against Little Barry — the name by which he was known to his schoolmates at age 6? I suspect it is the same thing the people of Tehran, whom he heartlessly turned his back on during last summer’s popular revolt, have against him. It’s frankly surprising that more people aren’t disillusioned by this ludicrous caricature of a person and a leader.
As for the statue, it is not destined to be dragged through the streets and pelted with shoes a la Saddam Hussein. It is being moved to a nearby school, where it won’t be quite as visible to the 56,500 Indonesians who found it sufficiently offensive to sign a Facebook petition to have it removed. Now if only someone would start up a Facebook petition to get the real Obama removed as well, we’d really be getting somewhere.
No word on whether the statue will continue to perpetually relieve itself in its new digs.

While admitting to not having my video display turned up to hyper-max resolution, I’m not seeing any pigeon poop on the statute. Good housekeeping? No pigeons in Indonesia? Teflon coating on BarryO?

From today’s (February 5th, 2010) New York Times – Asia-Pacific Edition:
.
Would that mean relocating the statue of Saint Obeyme to a local madrassa?
And hey! How about a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T for the PRESIDENT? That mean old governor called Obeyme Mister!

No doubt a reference to the statue in Austria that eternally does just that.

“Manneken Pis” (Dutch for little man urinating), also known in French as the “petit Julien,” is a famous Brussels landmark.
A little plumbing and “Little Barry” can pee on Indonesia 24/7…sorta like what he is doing here in America.

OK. So, you’re not familiar with Indonesian haute cuisine. My advice, if you go there and stop in at a cafe that has a hole in the center of the table…

Dude, keep a sharp eye out for black SUVs…

coldwarrior: Manneken Pis was indeed the “art work” I had in mind, except I would amend your comment to “what he is doing here on America.”
jgapinoy: Not familiar with the sculpture in Austria, but Obama is a man of the world, so sure, why not?

Move it out of sight of those critical adults and put it where it can be used to indoctrinate their impressionable children.
