Obama: We won’t rest until we catch these terrorists… but first let me play some more golf

Obama took three days to finally address the terror attack on Christmas Day. He spent those three days on vacation in Hawaii, going to the gym, golfing, and hanging out at the beach. His statement appear hurried and agitated, with Obama appearing annoyed at having to take time away from his vacation at all. He said all the right things, but it was the way he said them. Nevertheless, he promised not to rest until the terrorists had been caught.

I guess he had a hot tip that there were some terrorists at the Luana Hills Golf Course, because it looks like he went directly from his press conference there.

TEEING OFF: A half-hour after President Obama vowed to catch the terrorists behind a plot to blow up a plane on Christmas, he arrived at 10:40 a.m. at the Luana Hills Country Club, where a golf course winds through a rain forest, the pool reports.

The club is below inland cliffs and the towering Mt. Olomana.

Yeah… there’s a president who is really devoted to catching everyone involved with this incident. I bet he even gives himself a good solid B+ on national security now.

I expected no less.

What I’d like to know is this: did Obama just throw a jacket over his golfing outfit to do his statement?

Strangely enough, the golf course is also where OJ spent most of his time seeking his wife’s killer.

“Can’t I just have my waffle?”

:P Horrible horrible Precedent…err President. Is it 2012 yet?

Appears that way to me.

I really wouldn’t mind if Obama was playing golf right now, if he had been as laid back about his television appearances and staged media events over the past 11 months as George W. Bush was during his eight years as president.

Instead, for the past 11 months you couldn’t get away from seeing or hearing Barack Obama on the TV screen. He was everywhere, from Oprah to the Colbert Report to just about giving the nightly Lotto numbers before the late-evening local newscasts. So we had President Obama wall-to-wall 24/7/365 and then when an actual national security threat hits the country — especially one on Christmas Day from an ideology that hates America, Christians and western civilization in general — and suddenly Obama is Howard Hughes hold up in his penthouse suite in Las Vegas and you can’t get a word out of him.

It’s the desire to be in-America’s-face about the trivial but self-promoting aspects of the presidency and the obvious desire by Obama to go back to voting ‘present’ when the tough actions have to be taken that makes his face-on-a-milk-carton/’have-you-seen-this-missing-president?’ weekend in Hawaii so annoying.

It is all about cost.

Obama All The Time, on all networks, talking about everyting has no cost. The costs are borne by Congress, the Dem Party, and…us. So, cost-free, Obama loves to play for the TV cameras. Give him a venue, and some simple thing, like telling us how to cough into our elbows, inflating our tires, using insulation on our homes, or other inane stuff…there he is.

But, when it comes to making a decision that can be tied to Obama directly?

Suddenly, Obama is camera shy.

Our “Present” President.

I’ve noticed how O’s is going back to his old neighborhood and doing all the things he probably couldn’t do or afford to do when he grew up there. It’s his ‘Just Look at Me Now’ attitude, shoved in their faces. He’s getting even in the Chicago style with imaginary enemies from his youth. He’s playing at being president, that’s why he gets so upset when he is actually expected to be president.

Cassy,

I bow to no one in my distaste for the current White House resident, but I think that everyone’s response here is a little over the top. I didn’t criticize Bush’s “watch my drive” and I’m not going to criticize Obama for trying to lessen the stress that comes with being President. I’ll go out on a limb and say that information and updates can reach Obama just as easily on the golf course as anywhere else, much like Bush could be reached while in Crawford.

Oh, and style over substance in his speech? Bush was criticized for saying the right things too arrogantly. Are we now going to complain when Obama actually says the right things just because we don’t like his tone? I realize about foolish consistency and all, but I don’t want to devolve into schoolyard lingo: He did it first!

Crikey. I cannot believe that I’m actually defending Obama here, and from you of all people. Probably a good idea to check out the window to see if four guys on horseback are riding by.

C’mon, people, give the guy a break. Do you have any idea how tough it is to get a decent tee time in the winter?

And mentioning OJ in the earlier post, perhaps Obama can “deputize” OJ as a federal agent (kinda like Nixon did for Elvis) so OJ can get right on the case of rooting out these terrorists. After all, you can’t expect Obama to cover every golf course in the country by himself, now, can you?

Well, as I said above, I wouldn’t mind if Obama were out playing golf and not making a big public showing during this incident, if his style in the past year as president had been to avoid a ton of TV appearances and photo ops just to try and pump his poll ratings.

But he hasn’t. The Obama team’s entire game plan up until about 2 p.m. on Christmas Day has been to make sure the president gets as much face time as possible on TV and in the press, mostly on trivial items, because they know most of the big media would take those trivial items and spin it into Obama actually saying and/or doing something positive. But when it comes to a major (non-legislative) issue out of his control like the attempted destruction of a jetline, and the president has a chance to acutally make a positive statement and take positive action, he metaphorically votes ‘present’ by going out on the golf course.

Now we’ll have to wait and see if he’s been doing more than that behind the scenes (which means not just firing a cruise missile into a Yemeni terrorist’s tent and hitting a camel in the butt).

Fore!!!!!!!!

http://www.2012-today.blogspot.com

Yet, George W. Bush got criticized for finishing the book he was reading to a bunch of pre-schoolers (All of 10 minutes0 yet Obama says nothing for 3 days…….and then goes golfing a half-hour later. Bush got criticized for saying he is not going to golf because he did not feel right golfing while putting military in harm’s way and the press said he did it for publicity reasons….Obama sends 30000 trips off to war, while probably practicing his short game and nobody says anything. How the hell did this putz ever get elected…….

walker_ro on December 29, 2009 at 11:20 AM

I guess he will join OJ to find the “real” perpetrators!
