They Really Said This???

On The Health Care Bill:

“Can I sit up here or stand here with a straight face and say, we have got strong cost-containment provisions in this legislation? That if you’re an ordinary person who has employer-based health care, that your premiums are not going to go up in the next eight years based on what’s in this bill? I can’t say that. It’s just not accurate.”

–Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., speaking on the floor of the Senate yesterday.

“If we don’t get this done, your premiums are guaranteed to go up. If this does not get done, more employers are going to drop coverage because they can’t afford it. If this does not get done, it is guaranteed that Medicare and Medicaid will blow a hole through our budget.

I am absolutely confident that, if the American people know what’s in this bill and if the Senate knows what’s in this bill, that this is going to pass. Because it’s right for America, and I’m feeling cautiously optimistic that we can get this done and start rolling up our sleeves and getting to work improving the lives of the American people.”

–Barack Obama after his White House Chat (arm-twisting) session with the Democrats

“To put this in context, Lieberman was invited to participate in the process that led to the Medicare buy-in. His opposition would have killed it before liberals invested in the idea. Instead, he skipped the meetings and is forcing liberals to give up yet another compromise. Each time he does that, he increases the chances of the bill’s failure that much more. And if there’s a policy rationale here, it’s not apparent to me, or to others who’ve interviewed him. At this point, Lieberman seems primarily motivated by torturing liberals. That is to say, he seems willing to cause the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people in order to settle an old electoral score.”

–Ezra Klein  in the Washington Post two days ago.

“I came to your caucus to be your 60th vote,” he said, according to a Democratic aide briefed on the meeting.

“Don’t let these obstructionists win.”

–Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Penn.)  in the LA Times

On Global Warming:

“Some of the models suggest that there is a 75 percent chance that the entire north polar ice cap during some of the summer months will be completely ice-free within the next five to seven years,” Gore said. His office later said he meant nearly ice-free, because ice would be expected to survive in island channels and other locations.

–Albert Gore in SF Gate online

Of course, Albert said the same thing would happen by 2010, but who’s counting?  A  commenter in the article put things in perspective:

“but you “warmers” are still making things up as you go along. Or do you fail to recall that back in the 1990s Al Gore was saying the Arctic would be ice free before 2010?

And lets say he’s is right (this time) and there is no more ice on the Arctic.

SO WHAT?

Guess what you will find under that ice. Land. Land that at one time was exposed to the sun as there is already frozen grass that they are finding when they dig/drill under that ice.  What does that tell you?

That once upon a time, the Arctic was nearly ice free and then was completely covered in ice for a very long time. Eventually, the ice will melt, the land will thaw, fresh grass will grow and eventually the ice will return.
Its called a pattern and it has repeated itself hundreds if not thousands of times in the past and will continue to do so long after you and I are both dead and gone.  So I repeat:  SO FREAKING WHAT?”

Breaking news:  The president of the UN climate change conference in Copenhagen, Connie Hedegaard, resigned this morning

Hey Albert, why not just “step into it”, since you’re so obsessed with being “a president”.
