Dogsoldier

Mitch, are you a soldier? No offense chum, but one reduces the enemy encampments to rubble and then mops up the survivors.

And if they're obliging enough to "encamp" where they can be "reduced" "to rubble", then by all means do!

There are no “innocent” civilians providing support for our enemies.

No, but there are quite a few who, for pure self-preservation, go along with whomever seems to be winning. It's natural, it's self-preservation, and recognizing that is how we turned the tide in Iraq; by now only showing the locals we were winning, but making it safe to side with us and against the insurgents.

They're as innocent as the situation allows them to be.

Bombing was quite effective in Vietnam. Carpet bombing drove the NVC to the table, but our stupid government refused to bomb Hanoi.

Bombing the north was quite effective. Carpet bombing, rolling artillery barrages, chemically destroying agricultural land, and indiscriminately killing civilians when NVA and VC were present turned the locals in the South against us.

That approach will work in western Pakistan as well.

Depends on what you mean by "work".

I strongly suggest you read "Imperial Grunts" by Robert Kaplan - especially the chapters on Afghanistan and the Philippines.

And yes, since it seems to matter to you, Kaplan was a soldier. And has spent his entire career reporting on soldiers.

Of course, counterinsurgency war is a different cat to skin entirely. Rolling barrages of artillery fire that would work against a field full of enemy tanks or fortifications are counterproductive against an enemy that mingles among the civilians; the enemies that survive can crawl from the rubble

These folks are so anxious to kiss their voting public's derriere that they apparently pay little attention to what they've said in the past. It's either that or they think their voting public is so stupid they won't remember.

This is the guy whose first act after election was to teamup with Pelosi to go on a pilgrimage to Syria
This is the same guy who is a CAIR apologist
His Hajj was paid by a terrorist group
He is a muslim, a liberal and an elected democrat..God save us
