Good post.
The appeal to the opinions of celebrities is too typical of the left. The cult of personality comes naturally to them. From Alcibiades to JFK the left wants to worship a handsome human that their PR arm attaches a pretty myth to. It is a lot of the reason why Obama got elected so they know his base will continue to fall for it.

I'm scared of this Obama person and his administration. How long can they shoot blanks? It has been a continual cover-up of their vapid, impotent actions: More money spent than ever in the history of the world, and what have they got to show for it? Ultimately nothing. This is our money, completely evaporated. Gone. Now we're using borrowed funds on more promises and idiotic plans. There is no job growth. There isn't this great "good-will" feeling throughout the world. I just read that now, Obama has postponed any action regarding more troops in Afghanistan for several more weeks. He is still pondering. He probably has his head on top of the resolute desk in the Oval Office right now, in some Zen state of mind, agonizing about the fate of our troops. We know this because of his Dover "salute". The press was "quietly invited" to this somber event, as opposed the the fog-horn invitations that normally preclude any Obama activity, simply keeping with the decorum of the very grave occasion.
Maureen Dowd, where are you. to interpret what he really meant?

This is another aspect of the left's embrace of non-realism. Since actors and directors can change the world in their movies by merely speaking, including the very laws of physics, it should come as no surprise they are what the left looks up to.
