Europe Signs Deal To Commit Collective Suicide

Good news! It took the European Union a couple of decades and many years of socialist indoctrination, but it has finally been able to sign a treaty to collectively commit suicide.

Subject to formal endorsement in summit conclusions being prepared in Brussels, Europe has agreed to make a conditional offer to the rest of the world at global environment negotiations in Copenhagen in December…

Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, said the financial cost should not be included in the EU’s proposed package of ambitious climate change targets – at least not until other nations signal their readiness to pay their share.

But the summit text puts a 100 billion euros-a-year (£89.6 billion) price on curbing global warming by 2020, of which annual public funding is estimated at 22-50bn euros.(£19.7bn – £44.8bn.)

The EU’s combined share of that would be between 7-10bn euros (£6.2bn – £8.96bn) a year by 2020.

For the record, 100 billion euros is approximately 150 – 160 billion USD.

Ah well, I was pretty tired of life already, so it’s fine with me. Besides, what do we need all that prosperity for anyway? Prosperity is related to money, and money is evil. So I guess Brussels really is protecting ourselves against our most hideous sin: greed. Oh, that and an unhealthy love for life, of course.

Good, now that we’ve decided to destroy ourselves, who’s next?

I’m not in favor of the proposal, but how does “7-10bn euros (£6.2bn – £8.96bn) a year” amount to collective suicide?

If — and I say that, knowing that paying blackmail only ensures the blackmailer returns for more — if it only cost $160B to get all the Statists, One-Worlders, AGW hypocrites and frauds, and wealth-redistributionists to take a flying leap….it would be the biggest bargain ever.

That is the cost of committing suicide.

It’s a down payment on suicide… The balloon payment will be the neutering of industry and agriculture in the ‘developed’ world. While the ‘emerging’ economies are paid to not make the same mistake the west did. Most of this money will likely find its way back to Europe – Switzerland at least…

They signed away their sovereignty.

This comes beautifully on the heels of a very interesting episode of Glenn Beck’s Fox TV show yesterday, of which I uncharacteristically got to see all. You can probably view it on the website, and it’s well worthwhile. Beck’s British guest, Christopher Lord Monckton, demonstrated based on (a) the IPCC’s own data, and (b) a 20-year study of the greenhouse effect by Richard Lindzen of MIT, that Al Gore’s whole AGW/CC house of cards has collapsed.

The greenhouse effect with increased CO2 in the atmosphere is not, in fact, trapping more heat-producing gases in the atmosphere. The gases are escaping into space at the same rate they did prior to the cyclical warming period that we are now coming out of. The predictive model on which the Gore-ists base their claim that the greenhouse effect is worsening has been disproven by 20 years’ worth of actual data.

Additionally, Monckton showed that, using the IPCC’s own data, it would take 33 years of a cessation of all the carbon emissions associated with modern life — no electricity, no cars, no planes — to lower the average temperature by 1 degree F (not Celsius, which is a bigger unit, but Fahrenheit: the smaller unit).

The objective of “curbing global warming by 2020″ is, thus, nothing less than insanity, at least from an empirical perspective. Nothing we can realistically do will “curb global warming,” even if a one-way, man-made trend of it existed. This isn’t about the science any more — if it ever was.

Trick or treat!

No candy for you, algore.

This isn’t about the science any more — if it ever was.

It’s about redistribution of wealth on a global scale.

If global warming didn’t exist, governments would have to have invented it.
