Will you accept "Quid pro quo" ?

How about "Attempted influence peddling?"

It's dirty. Plain and simple.

The Euros, who would be absolutely furious if George Bush had campaigned for a center-right candidate, are attempting to meddle in an internal, American, decision.

And they'll likely succeed - the award giving Obama enough cover to scale back even the limited counter-terror work that we're currently doing.

The one thing - the *only* thing - that makes me grin in this is that the Euro idiots have succeeded in proving that the peace prize is purely political, and thus it will be less useful as cover in the future.

Oh, I agree that it was almost definitely a “nudge” and probably will end up having an effect on his decisions, but “bribery” isn’t a word that should be thrown around without proof.

What do you call a check for a few million?

I was under the understanding presidents can't keep "gifts" of any substantial value.

They admitted this was done in hopes it would put the shove on “what he hopes to do.” That may not be a direct quote, but if you read the statement, that’s basically what they’re saying. They like his attitude and want to encourage his plans.

Whatever happened to the President not accepting titles, prizes, gifts, bribes, while in office. Big Al, i.e., Al Gore, at least waited until he left orifice until he allowed his bank account to swell to 9 digits, not counting the decimals.

Considering that BarryO's tax filing included no charitable deductions, I'm not tilting fence to think he's going to sign his check over to relief for Darfur.

I had a friend back in college from, at the time, war-torn Northern Ireland. I made him laugh a lot. Do I qualify for the Apeaze Prize? Or Dean Martin's Celebrity Roast?

Maybe something really meaningful is coming up for BarryO. A platinum record for his greatest hits, not yet recorded but as an advance on what a Motown label expects he'll do?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this man is NOTHING but a puppet for left wing movers and shakers. If one were to open him up, I'd be willing to bet there ain't nothin' in there but a new age Mr. Microphone and some animatronic gears. What I'd love to know is who is REALLY runnin' the show.

I find that theory highly unlikely. Obama hasn't decided anything yet. It's not like they're going to take it back if he decides to put 40,000 more troops into Afghanistan.
