Sarkozy: Obama is “Incredibly Naive” and “Grossly Egotistical”

posted at 8:59 am on September 30, 2009 by

Hey, what’s that? Didn’t French President Nicolas Sarkozy receive the memo saying we Europeans are only allowed to praise Barack Obama?

“Sarkozy thinks that President Obama is incredibly naive and grossly egotistical – so egotistical that no one can dent his naiveté.”

The Frenchman thinks so little of Obama, in fact, that he fears for the free world: “he’s very worried about what that means for the West because the president of the United States is the leader of the free world. And if the president of the United States isn’t going to lead the free world, it isn’t going to be led.”

And there you had me thinking Obama would improve America’s relationship with Europe.

Well, I guess he did in a way; America is quickly becoming the laughing stock of the West, which isn’t that bad, is it?

I mean, everybody loves clowns, right?

Some people are just using their own eyes and ears and the truth is being revealed.

Obama still has a 96% approval rating in Kenya, so it’s all good.

I don’t see this as a problem. More as an opportunity.

Western Europe has gotten quite comfortable, playing a supporting role.

Now that the main actor is taken ill (malaise?) perhaps the understudy better get on stage.

Yes, it would be very nice for the U.S. to be leading – biggest economy, baddest army, and all that – but Merkel and Sarkozy and, to a lesser extent at the moment, Brown – can all claim the mantle as well.

So. Hope y’all were paying attention during rehearsal. The show will go on.

I am certain that European leaders will begin praising George Bush before the end of the Obama presidency. Mr. Sarkozy, welcome back to reality.

Sarkozy is still a Frenchman, but when compared to the other recent leaders in France (and Europe for that matter) he is a breath of fresh air.

Sarko got along pretty well with Bush. I don’t have illusions about where Sarko is on the political spectrum, but the scales didn’t suddenly fall from his eyes when Obama started staging Riefenstahlesque video opps at the Brandenburg Gate. The Sarkmeister’s been fairly savvy all along.

I was only a tepid McCain voter, but McCain has got to be looking pretty good to those Obama independents right now. At least Sarko, Merkel, and Brown wouldn’t think he’s an egotistical moron.
