What Year Is It in Obama’s World?

[ Nuclear Proliferation ]
Miniver Cheevy, the memorable character created by poet Edwin Arlington Robinson, believed he had been born at the wrong time and in the wrong place. In the poem, Cheevy is described as squandering his life away daydreaming about “days old/When swords were bright and steeds were prancing.”
Barack Obama apparently suffers from a similar affliction. In his first “policy speech” to the U.N. General Assembly, Obama betrayed a deep longing for the Cold War years. His speech was peppered with archaisms such as “the dangers of escalating nuclear arms races” and “uncontrolled proliferation.”
Arms race? Would that be how Obama views the pipsqueak Iran and the mad-bombership that is currently North Korea? I wasn’t aware that the two countries were in a race toward “uncontrolled proliferation,” which if true gives the distinct edge to Kim Jong Il, who has at least tested a nuclear weapon. Neither poses an immediate threat of amassing a stockpile of weapons.
Obama also spoke of a world united in bringing about peace. There was no word in the press release of whether the president handed out love beads and ask members of the General Assembly to hold hands and join him in a chorus of Kumbaya.

Year 1.
This is the first year in the Age of Obama; previous years are merely barbaric parodies of civilization.

I’m with malclave.
Past is but prologue to Obama.

Granted I intensely dislike his political ideology, but he is OUR President, and I wish he could be as articulate at the U.N. as he is in the U.S.
He IS a great speaker. Lacking in credibility, understanding of our Constitution, market forces, and having a distinct totalitarian bent to his ideology, but … he is OUR President.
So, if he’s going to go to the U.N., even if I disagree with what he’s advocating I wish he’d take the 10,000 watt speech-talent he has and USE it at the U.N.
He bombed. Badly.
And – as to Quadafi – WTF!? That dude is losing his faculties. Seriously. It wasn’t just the ‘terp, he was all over the place.

Last time I checked, being articulate requires sense and content. Obama’s speeches are fluffy college lectures. I don’t care if he’s my president, he’s a jackass and he should be grateful that so many stupid women want to paw at him.
