Harry Reid gives GOP direct warning on healthcare; I give Harry Reid a direct warning: start looking for outplacement services

The Hill reports that Senate Majority Leader Harry (“Loser”) Reid is now issuing direct threats to Republicans (“Reid gives GOP direct warning on healthcare“).
Reid told Republicans that he would prefer to pass healthcare reform under regular order but warned that he would not hesitate to use budget reconciliation if the legislation stalled in committee. The Senate Finance Committee began marking up a sprawling healthcare reform bill on Tuesday morning.
…Reid then spelled out how healthcare would pass under budget reconciliation proceedings, giving his colleagues a clear picture of what they face if they fail to reach bipartisan agreement.
“On reconciliation, under the order, there’s only 20 hours of debate,” Reid explained…
Here’s a warning for you, Reid. Consider it career counseling. Or, rather, end-of-career counseling.
Go ahead, make my day. We will spend whatever it takes, call as many Nevada voters as we can, write and email as much material as it takes (your pathetic record on the economy since taking over in 2006, for starters) to defeat you in 2010.
Does the year 1994 ring a bell? Well, the outrage now dwarfs that of ’94. Americans aren’t ready for Dear Leader’s brand of socialism. Not by a long shot.
You want to overhaul one-sixth of the economy, against the wishes of the American people, with 20 hours of debate?
Hey, Reid: call an outplacement service. Now. Before the rush.

You are calling it correctly. Reid makes that move at his own peril.

hopefully Reid will go down, but honestly i think it will be a pyrrhic victory
our only hope is that the R’s are thinking ahead (ha!!) and strategizing on ways to mitigate the damage done to healthcare in the US when “reform” passes.
the essential issue is price controls in the hands of government. Control over types of procedures offered, rationing of care, rationing by queue, reduced innovation, reduced quality of Drs., reduced technology (both old and new), etc. all stem from price controls
the bad news is that Medicare etc. are unsustainable fiscally. so what’s the answer?
R’s have got to be really smart about this. as a tactical move, they can rightfully point out that adding more people to the “rolls” will exacerbate the problem.
But R’s have to figure out how to address the sustainablity issue within the framework of universal coverage. the Dems support price controls and pulling the plug on granny.
now the ball is in the R’s court

Tonight ABC had a story about how the “economy is recovering” because the CityCenter is hiring 12,000 people.
That is nice, I wonder how long those jobs are going to last when no one is going to Las Vegas, and for many I know it isn’t because they can not afford to. It is because they will not spend one dime there as long as Dirty Harry is their Senator.
Here is just one example…One of my friends and his wife used to spend two weeks there annually will no longer go there and they didn’t go there on the “cheap”, either. They spent money on nice suites, his wife is a great poker player, they would go to alot of shows and they did not eat at the buffets. Now that money is going to Mexico, Barbados, the Caymans and the Bahamas.

Reid keeps flaunting the reconciliation threat. If the R’s are smart, they will call his bluff on this. As I understand it, this procedure is used for budget bills only. 20 minutes of debate would be more than they gave tarp, and stimulus.

Oh Puh-leeze do it Harry!
Do it so I can watch your corrupt career in the Senate end in an implosion to rival the Big Bang!

Danny Tarkanian, the famous coach’s son, is running for the GOP nod. Some polls already give him a double-digit lead. I volunteered today, and also set up a monthly contribution. Harry has gone too far left for the people of Nevada since becoming majority leader, figuring that he owes his party more than he owes us. Harry will be surprised to hear that he is wrong.
