jon1979 - exactly, if they're going to flog a dead horse, then the results shouldn't come as a surprise to them. I hope that the Blame Bush Doctrine is dropped long before I fear that it will be, though. How bereft of ideas must the Democrats be to recycle the Bush line?

Howard - the similarities are indeed numerous, to the discomfort of many on both sides. But, of course, Obama does the same things as Bush did "for the right reasons." Love those Lefty double-standards.

sanssoucy, Voyska - my stance veers (so is along the lines of what fronclynne wrote). I love that Romney slammed the Democrats with his Carter-reference the other day and hope that more conservatives start doing likewise - the difference being that whereas Democrats see fit to mount national campaigns based on opposition to previous presidents, we do not, yet (as maybe that'll change if the opportunity to twin Obama with Carter just becomes too good to pass up).

And I detest our weakness in the face of left-wing thuggery, as do you. There's no point in remaining civil to those how consistently thank you by taking a dump on your doorstep.

But I'd rather not see former presidents from either side (although it almost always turns out to be those from the Left) weigh in with their views. President Bush refrains from doing so, Presidents Clinton and Carter not so much. Both sides have enough attack dogs without drawing former presidents into the mug-slinging, however much they might enjoy it.

Gawd, I wish conservatives everywhere would grow a pair, stop being “civil” to these @sshats, and adopt the take-no-prisoners attitude that has characterized the left for the last 80 years or so.

Sheesh.

Man, am I with you! I get tired of the knee-pad media and the DNC hirelings lecturing everyone about rudeness and then continually take a poke at us. When, oh when will folks wake up? I'm thinking 2010 and 2012..unless there's another 9/12 pitchfork-and-torchlight special in Washington sooner.

Well, there's civility, and then there's pacifism. Just because I like someone doesn't mean I won't beat them at tiddly-winks. And just because I fail to call someone a racial epithet doesn't mean I don't despise them for the ugly monster they may be.

The left positively *loves it* when Republicans are too "civil" to go after them hammer and tongs. I wish Bush would pop up every other day and just rip into the jug-eared Marxist in the White House.
-

I'm sorry, but this "civility" nonsense just plays into their hands; they get to slam conservatives, their families, and their policies in the most vile terms imaginable ... and we promptly kitten up and lick their hand.

They are afraid to be equated with Obama’s policies, so they fall back on Bush’s…

In my respects Obama's policies are Bush's policies. Like Bush, Obama has continued the bailouts and runaway spending.

John Kerry's people were still spouting Herbert Hoover lines during the 2004 election, due to the Democrats' DNA that equated attacking Hoover with 20 straight years in the White House. So it's no surprise they're going to try and attack Bush in 2010 and 2012, though massive losses in the next two elections could curtail that urge slightly, by 2020 or so.
