What not to wear to a Medal of Honor award ceremony

You might think a posthumous Medal of Honor award ceremony would be a somber occasion, but not everyone would agree with you. Either this is an especially skillful photo shop effort or Michelle Obama has no clue whatsoever about the nature of this event. U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Jared C. Monti‘s parents received the award for him. I hope they didn’t notice the first lady’s stunningly inappropriate dress, but that’s unlikely.

For the occasion, Mrs. O debuted a new floral frock in a bold, red rose print, accessorized with green kitten heels and chandelier earrings.

I dunno, Charles, did you care to imagine what it might feel like to be African American and read all those N words left all over HotAir in the middle of the night by your right hand tool?

I missed that…

I have noticed, though, no question about it, that the Left’s coming out in increased droves in increased desperation all over the internet; unfortunately for the Left, all they’re accomplishing is two things: (1.) affirming the rotten reality about Barack Obama {by the company surrounding him while his own words set their ‘standards’), and, (2.) affirming how debased the Left is (as if any more proof of that is necessary to seal the deal).

The same, tired, wan attack-words (entirely, consistently subjective and pejorative as also exceptionally prejudicial == the Left calling others “retards” and similar, whatever snot they can type in the moment) from the Left about everyone else, it never fails to start building in frequency when the Left is OBVIOUSLY under critical observation by American voters (as they are now).

Pitiably, the Left never realizes to what extent they create their own critically awful standards and how they continue to affirm that all over the internet. Even HuffPo is looking exceptionally desperate trying to ratioanlize utter failure by Obama and Democrats.

It looks like Michelle Obama is in a festive, celebratory mood, doesn’t it? Marxists: happy, dressed-up to celebrate the deceased among the Capitalists.

Lourdes on September 20, 2009 at 7:51 PM

Maybe they were joining the world in celebrating Eid.
Thankfully he had a script or the TOTUS would have started his rant on that whole “religion of peace ” cr@b
And BTW, was Murtha invited to that ceremony?

And check out Obama’s tie – a perfect color match. Awwww how cute.

hotdax on September 20, 2009 at 7:10 PM

OMG you are right about the tie! I was willing to give him a pass because he at least looks properly solemn in the picture.

Spunky06 on September 20, 2009 at 8:45 PM

No class.

GOOD GRIEF!

MCGIRV on September 20, 2009 at 11:33 PM

Who is advising her on wardrobe? Sorry, she looks like she is going out for lunch with the girls rather than a somber ceremony honoring a fallen hero.

The Commander in Chief’s wife must not take that particular part of his responsibilities seriously.

Small surprise, he doesn’t take his responsibilities seriously either.

Give the po’ girl a break. She’s obviously dressed up for the occasion, and she looks great.

There are so many substantial reasons to ding Obama that I think people should give him and his whole family a free pass on all the petty stuff like this. Even if how she dressed was inappropriate, which I don’t think it is, let it slide.

David Blue on September 21, 2009 at 3:27 AM

Karl: “So who is the president talking about when he speaks of people who invoke those words [Duty. Honor. Country. Service. Sacrifice. Heroism.] lightly?”

Obama creates straw men to make himself moderate by making other people look bad. He likes to be like a god, above the contending factions and judging them. He does this all the time. It’s habitual, and here he he’s just wandering down a rhetorical road familiar to him, thoughtlessly. He doesn’t need to have a specific enemy in mind.

Hard to say which is worse – her thinking that dress was appropriate or someone defending it.

katiejane on September 21, 2009 at 8:35 AM

That’s not a defense, it’s a call to let the issue subside in lieu of more substantive criticism.

But, if you’d like to assume the role of conservative fashion police, by all means do so.

TheUnrepentantGeek on September 21, 2009 at 1:49 PM

It’s not about what’s fashionable, or whether she looked good. This is a matter of paying respect through appropriate dress.

Pundette on September 21, 2009 at 3:07 PM

I had vowed not to make fun of Michelle Obama’s sense of fashion, but since she almost always dresses like a Sicilian grandmother on her way to a funeral, the choice of this outfit is just too much like a deliberate affront — playing to an audience where, I wonder. So I wrote a post explaining how Michelle Obama unites the qualities of Eleanor Roosevelt, Mamie Eisenhower and Mary Todd Lincoln.

The link didn’t work in my first comment, so I’m including it here.
