Breitbart: Prepare for a “blockbuster” “from left field” next week; Update: It’s the NEA; Update: A Buffy Wicks twofer
posted at 10:31 am on September 19, 2009 by Repurblican
printer-friendly
Below is what appears to be the full interview of Andrew Breitbart from yesterday’s Savage Nation radio broadcast. I’ve cued up the relevant portion, which is in Part 2; just press play.
Speculation? I would guess he’s got something on SEIU, but given the union’s close relationship with ACORN, that may not fit the “from left field” bill. Other guesses?
Update: Buffy Wicks? That name has popped up in the comments stemming from a comment/photo posted by Iowahawk — who says he’s talked to Breitbart about the revelation — at the Ace of Spades blog. Quoth Iowahawk:
Heheheh. I talked to Breitbart on the phone last night. Seriously. It’s gonna be good.
I have no idea what this is about now. She was connected to the Obama campaign, particularly in Missouri, and has worked with the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, formerly part of the AFL-CIO. A Google search of her name has this video as the top hit:
From the YouTube description:
Buffy Wicks, the Presidential Inaugural Committee’s Director of National Service Day, introduces USAservice.org.
Visit the site today and sign up to host or attend a service event on January 19th as part of President-elect Obama’s call to “Renew America Together.”
Could be anything.
Update: Or… the NEA. Even before Wicks’s name came up, Patterico had a guess, and it appears at this point to be a very good one.
If I were a betting man, I’d be betting big that the upcoming bombshell will relate to the NEA. You read it here first.
And then, there’s this:
Pardon me? The taxpayer-funded NEA is trying to recruit sympathetic artists to push the Obama agenda? Yes, it sounds wacky, and it sounded wacky to Courrielche, too. “Artists shouldn’t be used as tools of the state to help create a climate amenable to their positions, which is what appears to be happening in this instance,’’ Courrielche wrote in an Internet post. Speaking on the phone, he explained in greater detail how the organizers – NEA communications director Yosi Sargent, a promoter of Shepard Fairey’s famous “Hope’’ poster; Buffy Wicks, a former Obama field organizer now with the White House Office of Public Engagement, and three others – “said we had the ability to shape the people around us.’’
I wonder what Breitbart has that’s new.
Update: I hope Patterico made a few bets, because I think he’s about to get a payout.
At the very least, filmmaker James O’Keefe and actress Hannah Giles deserve a Pulitzer Prize for their expose of deep corruption and unspeakable immorality at the ACORN housing division. But more important, I won’t rest until they receive a grant to continue their partisan artistry from the National Endowment for the Arts.
That’s this week’s mission.
BigGovernment’s “Pre-Game Report” is here. Also, regarding Pulitzers… I agree.
Update: The new post is up. Looks like administration involvement in the politicization of the NEA was greater than first thought/admitted, but will this translate into a blockbuster scandal? Stay tuned.
Update: Oof. It’s a Buffy Wicks twofer, with the first post on her involvement with the NEA and the second her involvement with… wait for it… ACORN. And it’s her Union connections (which I noted above) that get her in trouble there.
United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) union bosses have paid ACORN over a half-a-million dollars. While Wicks coordinated UFCW sponsored Wakeup’s “political” organizing campaign, UFCW bragged about its coordination with ACORN. UFCW also coordinated numerous voter registrations with ACORN.
It’s also worth a read.

I’m guessing their # 1 video will be the Chicago office where someone brags about ACORN’s relationship with Obama.
PatMac on September 19, 2009 at 10:43 AM
I like Michael Savage (Weiner). I also like Glenn Beck, but I think sometimes Beck gets credit for breaking news that Savage had covered months before. Savage was talking about Van Jones and what his appointment meant to the administration at least as far back as March. Savage also mentioned the Soros connection long, long ago.
Anyway, I can’t wait to see what’s in store next week.

a direct link to Obama’s inner circle and Acorn. A big fish from the Chicago days.
rob verdi on September 19, 2009 at 11:02 AM
The BEST thing those two young film makers did was to hook up with Breitbart. He absolutely knows how to play this. If not for that, the videos, while stunning, would have blazed out in a matter of days.

JetBlast on September 19, 2009 at 11:14 AM
Awwwright. Here it is. Here’s what Beck is leading up to. Start at 3:50. To paraphrase:
ACORN is not just some organization that has fallen into corruption. The story here is not about aiding pimpers to traffick in South American children for sex slaves.
Once that’s made clear, Beck-Breitbart will show Obama’s complicity, and that his complicity was with full knowledge of ACORN’s mission. Curtains for the Bamster.
petefrt on September 19, 2009 at 11:18 AM
I think you are on the right track…
katy on September 19, 2009 at 11:18 AM
ACORN is a Cloward-Piven subversive organization, as I expect the ACORN training program demonstrates. Just waiting for Beck-Breibart to put the spotlight on ACORN training.
Barry knows this, as he was once chief ACORN trainer for Chicago area. So he’s complicit.
The notion that ACORN merely stumbled into corruption is naive, if not disingenuous.. ACORN is designed to overthrow the system by the Cloward-Piven strategy of flooding and overwhelming it.
petefrt on September 19, 2009 at 11:21 AM
Right, but even before that, we know Obama (before being its attorney) was chief trainer for ACORN in the Chicago area.
petefrt on September 19, 2009 at 11:23 AM
Well honestly I don’t think we can even guess. Who would have thought the exposee on ACORN would be Latina Child Sex-slave smuggling with federal dollars? Not me. I’m still stunned at the depravity of it all.
I hope it is the SEIU…

Andrew Breitbart needs to have a show on Fox. Glenn Beck would be a good replacement for BOR and AB could do the current GB slot.

Regrettably I think we are wishful thinking. Obama will have made certain to keep himself comfortably distant from any future repercussions of his actions.
johnsteele on September 19, 2009 at 11:24 AM
I will say that Andrew Breitbart and company are simply genius. They have played this like a fine violin and if they accomplish no more than driving a nail into the brain of ACORN it will have been a major accomplishment. If there is more devastating news then that will be icing on the cake.
johnsteele on September 19, 2009 at 11:26 AM

Perhaps Obama’s lying on the bar exam about his association with ACORN is the reason he lost his law license?

I remember asking Ed if he thought that the libs intentionally set a bomb when they starting pushing for banks to make risky loans. I have a friend who thinks I’m a conspiracy theorist for considering this, but I’m not sure what to think about it. It’s quite simply ILLOGICAL to think that people who can’t afford loans, should take them out anyway.
But as to Acorns involvement in this check this out (which is not shown on their current website (unless you do a search):
What has ACORN done?
COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT
Negotiated landmark agreements with banks in St. Louis, Baton Rouge, Boston, Bridgeport, New York City, Jersey City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Denver, Little Rock, New Orleans, Chicago, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Brooklyn, Des Moines, Dallas and Washington, D.C., making over a billion dollars available for loans in low-income neighborhoods. Blocked the gutting of the federal Community Reinvestment Act. Forced Fannie Mae to establish a precedent-setting program to buy community reinvestment mortgages.

I am believing in the vast Left conspiracy to bring down the country from within. I am shocked. But I can’t deny what is right in front of my eyes.
These are Americans born with all the freedom of 20th century America and they want to go back to the feudal system of Communism. It is so shocking that we haven’t exposed them before.

Good idea, unless he prefers to build his own boat and then row it himself. AB’s star is definitely on the rise.
Plus he’s good on the air. Sometimes he subs for Dennis Miller, and while I like Dennis, I like Brietbart’s show better.
I get the feeling that Breitbart’s heavy into the behind-the-scenes action too. Wouldn’t surprise me if he and Rush were cooking up some things on the QT.

IS ANDREW BRIETBART THE NEW DANIEL ELLSBERG?
I know … it’s an extreme comparison. But the fact is … Brietbart is becoming just as big a problem for the White House and the Democrats as Ellsberg was to the Nixon White House and supporters of the Vietnam War were.
It may not be long before the administration or someone on the left strikes against Brietbart.
I hope he’s got his back covered. He’s a brave man.
HondaV65 on September 19, 2009 at 11:55 AM
The clues are “big,” “out of left field” and not necessarily related to ACORN. So far the ACORN revelations have come out of Maryland and southern California. I could see the next bombshell being corruption related to illegal immigration, but I prefer not to guess.
John Stossel is getting a weekly show on Fox and I think Breitbart would be a good partner for him. Together they could bring back investigative journalism, which the MSM have long ago abandoned. It would be helpful if somebody like Breitbart would get to the bottom of Obama’s birth certificate controversy to have it firmly and finally settled.
Terrie on September 19, 2009 at 11:56 AM
I would hope the end objective, is to wreck the sources of power for the corrupt democrat party.
ACORN was an excellent start, but they need to destroy the SEIU, the NEA, AFL-CIO, most if not all the MSM, government unions of all stripes, and finally the trial lawyers.
Without those, the playing field is more or less level, in the marketplace of ideas conservatives will always win all else being equal.

Pray for James and Hannah. These two are becoming enemy number one to Obama and ACORN.

I’d sleep a lot better at night if Biden was President. Yes, he’s a complete goofball, but he’s not a dangerous radical like The Kenyan. Biden’s most ambitious policy initiative would be making sure everyone knows how to tie their shoelaces and, after nine months of Nobama, I can live with that.

Why did Breitbart go on Savage? Was he trying to get this story out there any way he can, or was he just being charitable? Savage does not have the best reputation, due to his mercurial temperment. Yes he badmouths the rest of the radio right, but they should have come to his defence on the Banned In Britain issue (though I can see why they did not).

The Rathke interview is good. Is it recent? There’s no date on it.
He says, why do you have to register? Well, if someone is so stupid or uninterested to register, why should they vote at all? Makes it harder for folks like him to round people up, give them five bucks, and tell them where to check the box.
We also read in newspapers that it’s too bad about Acorn, boo hoo, because they work with poor people helping them to buy houses, etc. Where’s the statistics on that? Who have they helped?

I wouldn’t criticize Breitbart for going on Savage – Breitbart understands the publicity game. Savage has an audience, and when you’re trying to build publicity on a movement you take advantage of every opportunity you get to raise your awareness with every audience you have the ability to reach.
Hannity and O’Reilly should be calling around the clock and *Begging* Breitbart to come on his show. This is the story of the decade, and they’re letting it slip by them.
But it doesn’t matter – Breitbart is a maestro, and is giving the performance of his life.

ACORN has a manuel! This is the key. I was wondering how it was that the same advice was given in the various states. The type of behavior seen in the videos must be in the manuel.
Think of all the questions about this manuel. Where did it come from? Who directed them to use it? Who wrote it? Who used it for training?
So much for ‘a few isolated instances’.
Freddy on September 19, 2009 at 1:05 PM
how about housing? ACORN is all over the housing collapse, they helped cause it and are now funded to rework mortgages, its utterly sickening.
ginaswo on September 19, 2009 at 1:12 PM
I agree: If Savage didn’t spend half his time insulting his natural allies like Rush and Palin, he might not have to whine about how they aren’t supporting his “plight” re the UK ban. The guy’s got a galactic-sized inferiority complex, which will always hold him back.
During his Breitbart interview he kept stepping on AB’s comments. Free clue, Mike: when you have a guest on who has a huge story, let….them…..talk.
Finally, I keep reading allusions to Barack losing his law license. What is the evidence? It takes a court proceeding for that to happen. The claim above, that he lost it for “lying about” ACORN relationships, seems thin, since he obviously wasn’t ACORN’s lawyer if he didn’t yet have a license to practice. Or was he licensed somewhere else before taking the exam in Illinois? Simply being associated with ACORN, or supporting it, isn’t enough. If it wree then Burris and everyone else who voted to retain funding should be disbarred as well.

The one major flaw that seems to haunt Glenn Beck is that he has, in the recent past, had a propensity for using other people’s work, quoting without attributions. He’s caused some animosity among certain bloggers and radio talk show hosts because of that. They’re assuming he wants the credit for their work. I’m not sure what to make of it, but Beck would be wise to be more responsible about attributing significant stuff others have said and/or written if he uses it verbatim, in order to build his own credibility.

Each of us must be equally engaged in the fight to protect our nation. Phone calls, protests, letters, we must educate ourselves with the facts and not back down. Future generations are counting on us. Too many people died to provide us with such blessings. We have no right to give it up so easily.

Michelle Malkin had an updated (she blogged it a few months ago) in depth post on the Acorn whistleblower and NYT’s killing the story – the NYT’s reporter knew it was blockbuster even though it saddened her that O’s team was involved and it would help the GOP.\
BUT Michelle wrote this:
I had not read that before, that Michelle had the Project Vote donor spreadsheets given them by Democrats and that the NYT’s reporter never actually got them.
Perhaps it’s nothing, but I have a hunch what Breibart has either has to do with illegal collusion 501c with campaigns or DNC and/or medias involvement with covering it up most probably NYT’s

I’m betting it’s completely out of left field and not related to acorn. Breitbart seems to have learned John Boyd’s lessons about getting inside the opponents decision making cycle. His vid release these last eight days is straight out of Boyd. Now that acorn et al are building their alibis I bet Andy has already hit another bedrock piece of the haloed one’s syndicate. My guess, Ayers and Dohrn and their real ties to Obama. Note how Beck hammered this Friday.
xkaydet65 on September 19, 2009 at 2:20 PM
No, unless he dies before he selects a VP. If 0bama steps down, then Biden becomes President then he selects a new VP. More than likely, that would be HRC or Rahmbo (but it could just as easily be someone outside the administration). Chances are, it he wouldn’t select Pelosi. She is just too unpopular.

Yup, could be. Michelle Malkin deserves some props for her work on this.

How can ACORN expect anyone to take their independent outside “audit” serious given a 4 of the members close association with it, but more importantly an auditor who says this:

The left is full on nervous breakdown, implosion mode. it’s all on the horizon and they know it. Someone cracked and they can’t put the genie back in the bottle. They are about to be exposed as the most corrupt enterprise this country has even experienced.

Honestly people, I don’t think this has to do with Obama directly. I think Briebart’s sites are on the enablers in the media and/of the corruption of the Democrat party more specifically.
Think of it this way — that Obama got elected is not directly his doing.
The media all but ignored Obama other than glowing love pieces. Also, the media looks the other way at all levels of Democrat impropriety and illegal activity.( for example, Does anyone think if some dude who had Tang like docs on John Kerry was communicating with Karl Rove directly and then Rove was coordinating the info with Fox, the media in general would have made that a huge story if it leaked out???? – As it stood the yawned when Joe Lockhart said it was no big deal.
Sarah Palin hit the scene and suddenly the media needed to do their job and throughly upside down vet the hick chick Governor from being #2 while the dude wanting to #1 voted present his entire thin career.
Briebart’s op-ed was clea to mer. He’s going to expose the general wide-spread corruption of the Democrat party and their partnership with the media elite and this elite’s systemic cover-up of it.
Topsecretk9 on September 19, 2009 at 2:47 PM
And how he’s been dropping hints this last week. He mentioned something about people inside starting to talk. Maybe someone’s come forward with some damaging stuff? ACORN has GOT to be scared of their own shadow by now…not knowing who to trust and who is putting them over the barrel behind the scenes.

A speculation thread? SWEET. I’ll play.
Acorn is too powerful and too politically connected to go anywhere. Re-naming and restructuring will be the name of the game. Their arrogance shows in the tapes.
My guess?
They started boasting about how they got someone elected via fraud.I suspect they named the politician.
I here-by speculate they boast how they overturned the Senate election in Minnesota, putting Franken in office.

Something to do with how the Dems plan to give illegals amnesty and THEN HOW THEY WILL ENABLE THEM TO VOTE. That’s why Nanner and Harry and many other Dems were never worried about how angry legal American citizens are getting. 2010? No problem.

guessnightmare.Shay on September 19, 2009 at 3:47 PM
Yes, I find him exceptionally rude. I’ve tried to listen many times, but it’s too much work, and I have to look past his residual anger to hear what he’s trying to convey. It’s too much work. If he doesn’t want to learn from those around him how to relate to his listeners, then he shouldn’t cry when he alienates them and no one rides to his rescue. Radio listeners tend to be very loyal–he just doesn’t seem to have an emotional connection to fall back on when he needs their support.
And so what if he mentioned Van Jones first—he didn’t do the legwork necessary to get this on the front page and to make it stick. He should note how the conservative media are banding together in a united front (brilliant, btw) and learn from it.

Of course the banking cartel is complicit. All roads lead to the Bank of London. All central banks lead to London. The Fed leads to the Bank of London. The bankers at the very top have gotten very good at creating depressions, they’ve done it time and again.
The NWO is simply a debt-based centralized bank order where you will not be able to buy or sell without being a part of the new economic order. Plan at a minimum of six months ahead. Have all the resources you need for at least six months of sustenance, including paying your bills six months out (electricity, etc.).
And no, you won’t raptured out of here.

Well, that might be right, but then again ACORN Housing is still a valid corp in Chicago, and it still has an office and working phone on Jackson Blvd.
The main ACORN, the one registered in the long form of the name and without “Housing” in the name, had it’s corp registration revoked in early 2008, however, so the article is partly right.

Whooaaa… I’d forgotten about that. That may well be the thing “from left field” that Breitbart was talking about. Or maybe the Soros connection. If I were laying out the case, the next step would be exposing SEIU. But don’t think Breitbart would characterize SEIU as “from left field”.

Just listened to the clips for the third time and picked up that Breitbart is saying MSM, given the chance, would have leaked the tapes to ACORN so ACORN could defend against them. So not only are MSM and ACORN kindred spirits, but they’re in bed together, actively servicing each other.
As AB says, “community organization” is the infrastructure of the left today, funded by leftist foundations and major unions. ACORN, the largest of the CO’s, has already got about $53 million in the last few years. Under new legislation, it was set up by Obama to get up to $8 billion. Can you imagine!

He did something similar to that to me during the big Stimulus Bill debate. Though he linked to my page on his web site, he didn’t mention at all that the segment he had done (reading a page of the Stim Bill and timing how long it would take to read it) he got directly from me. He went so far as to read the same page on the air I had chosen at random for my blog post and the same numbers I came up with as far as reading speed and such. He essentially recreted by entire blog post without giving me a scrap of credit, or even noting that he got the idea from a blog.
Jimmie Bise, Jr on September 19, 2009 at 11:22 PM
The one major flaw that seems to haunt Glenn Beck is that he has, in the recent past, had a propensity for using other people’s work, quoting without attributions. He’s caused some animosity among certain bloggers and radio talk show hosts because of that.

Credit infighting is something we should avoid at all costs!! We don’t have one bit of spare energy to waste on it, or to get negative with each other. The unbelievable scale of the monster we are fighting is just beginning to show itself. While it’s nice to get credit, our nation is being burnt to the ground, with US in it! Chavez got the campesinos(poor uneducated therby ignorant) in Venezuela by giving them every govenrnment entitlement he could squeeze out. He got them riled up by telling them how the middle and upper classes were stealing their opportunities to succeed. Once in power he very quickly moved to nationalize Co’s and to “give more” to the campesinos. Camnpesinos out number the middle and upper classes and they vote to keep Chavez. Obama and his ilk are trying to do the same here. If they can get permanent power by having the majority of the population dependent on them they will.
Obama is evil and he is accompanied by just as evil people. I have always thought that this election was a lot closer if not out right stolen. The Democrats made a major push to elect Democrat Secretary of States to cover for them if and when ACORN got caught… Michel Malkin did a lot to warn us about ACORN and voter fraud during the election… I think we all need to wake up to the reality that we are in a civil war…it’s just that the shooting hasn’t started yet…
