More Civility

Maureen Dowd, not content to have made a total ass out of herself in one column by imputing racism to Joe Wilson for accusing the president of lying, has doubled down on her efforts with a second column on the topic. This one addresses the pointless and partisan reprimand of Congressman Wilson by Nancy Pelosi and her troops on the House floor. Dowd hails the reprimand as “a rare triumph for civility in a country that seems to have lost all sense of it.”

I wonder if Mo-Do believes Wilson could learn a lesson in civility from his colleagues on the Democratic side — from, say, Rep. Pete Wilson Stark, seen in the following clip exchanging pleasantries with one of his constituents.

A commentator at Demcoratic Underground who styles himself Peacetrain not only applauds Stark’s abject rudeness in dealing with a frustrated constituent but pays the congressman the highest compliment possible for a liberal. He compares Stark to Barney Frank, who told one of his own constituents last month that “trying to have a conversation with you would be like arguing with a dining room table.”

I now realize conclusively that in our elites today we have a class of highly educated, completely self-deluded lunatics. What could be more dangerous?
