Countdown to Van Jones Firing

Back in August, I penned a short post at Zombie Contentions about this man, Van Jones, Obama’s “Green Czar.” As I noted then, Jones is a self-avowed communist, did jail time for his actions during the Rodney King riots in East L.A., and — as Michelle Malkin has reported extensively — has a past affiliation with many shady activist organizations. In recent weeks, it has become common knowledge that Jones favors reparations for blacks and American Indians, and in a public forum referred to Republicans as “a**holes,” a comment for which he has since apologized.

Now it turns out that in addition to Jones’s many other many fine distinctions, he is a “truther,” one of the loons who believe 9/11 was an inside job planned and/or sanctioned by the Bush administration. (To put this in perspective, Janeane Garofalo, one of the craziest people on the planet earth, is another member of this fraternity.) A short while ago, the panel on Special Report with Bret Baier was speculating on how long it will take Obama to fire this bum.

I invite all comers to participate in a pool on the subject. Unfortunately, there is no way to legally (or practically) transfer cash through an Internet connection, so this will have to be a gentleman’s, or gentlewoman’s, bet.

Since I am creating this post, I will take the 9 PM ET slot tonight.

Good luck to one and all.

Jones goes under the Obama bus tomorrow (Friday) at 6:10pm.

KelliD on September 3, 2009 at 6:50 PM

I’ll be the first to put my money on never.

Gator Country on September 3, 2009 at 6:51 PM

Yep, the Friday before a 3-day sounds like a pretty safe bet.

John the Libertarian on September 3, 2009 at 6:54 PM

if it happens, he will have to say something stupid AFTER all these facts, after all – all of this is ancient History and he is a changed man.

seesalrun on September 3, 2009 at 6:54 PM

First, the obligatory “The president has complete confidence in Mr. Jones” — this comes out in time for Hemmer & Kelly on Fox; by “Live Desk” there will be an unnamed source suggesting Mr. Jones is indicating he might resign; by “The Fox Report” “Mr Jones has decided that it would be in the best interest of the president to resign.” So . . .I’m saying 6:05PM EST

rebuzz on September 3, 2009 at 7:02 PM

seesalrun: Robert Gibbs has already said that Jones did all these things before chose him, as though that somehow absolves his sins.

rebuzz: Correct down the smallest detail!

Friday – about 7:30pm

hotdax on September 3, 2009 at 7:29 PM

Peggy Noonan mentioned him in her column today. But I still give him about two more weeks . . it hasn’t sifted into the Washington Post or New York Times.

MitchFlorida on September 3, 2009 at 7:48 PM

Three-day weekend due to Labor Day, so Jones could even hang on until sometime Saturday afternoon — I’ll put down 4:30 p.m. EDT — when he’ll ‘resign’ the job to spend more time with his family and/or seek other promising job options outside the government.

Whatever happens, he’s a regular “Countdown” commentator by no later than the end of the month.

Wonderful! Thanks.

I think the reason Obama has created so may Czars is so he has more people to throw under the bus. Obama always blames underlings when he gets in trouble.

mad saint jack on September 3, 2009 at 8:25 PM

He just issued an expanded apology, not a resignation…

The Administration must be attempting to assess whether reacting to the controversy will be seen as a sign of weakness, and as an invitation to go after the other Czars as a way of undermining the Czar of Czars himself. The longer the wait, the more they risk a bigger loss – unless they’re determined to wait it out all the way.

CK MacLeod on September 3, 2009 at 8:45 PM

Jones was just getting street cred. Did he go to jail or cheat on his taxes? Nah, he’s got a few more get out of jail cards up his sleeve before the bus makes a u turn.

Kissmygrits on September 3, 2009 at 8:46 PM

Since Tom Daschle is still “advising” Obama after his fiasco, I don’t see that much will change even if Jones is ‘fired’

BobH on September 3, 2009 at 8:56 PM

Obama and company knew all this before Jones was crowned czar and the media must have known too. Nobody bothered to tell the story because they did not want US to know.

Jones is not the only one who should step down or be investigated. This mess, this series of beliefs goes right to the top.

clnurnberg on September 3, 2009 at 9:05 PM

It isn’t a question of when B.O. throws this assclown under the bus, but what is preventing him from doing it like right now.

pilamaye on September 3, 2009 at 9:15 PM

redbuzz is going to be tough to beat. If he misses any individual part of the timeline, it’s because one of the players took an unexpected restroom break.

The Prezisadunce will never fire him,

Van Jones will come out with a statement that he wants to spend more time with his family,

Nazi Polici will appear on MSNBC and call everyone who is spreading lies ( info) about Jones a nazi and racist She’ll point out to his achievements in San Fransisco , Oakland and Berkeley

Van Jones will be relocated to a brand new post @ the WH. He will be the new Manure Provider to Michelle’s Obama’s vegetable garden. He will have his very own port-a-potty for recycling-manure-composting purposes

His new ” office ” ( big wink ) will be painted a bright shade of green

To provide for the ever-increasing size of MO’s garden, Van Jones will be given a all-u-can-eat-for-free @ Taco Bell benefit

When not in his “office”, Van Jones will maintain the compost pit and collect Bo’s deposits on the lawns

macncheez on September 3, 2009 at 11:32 PM

Just before Glenn Beck’s show tomorrow – for family reasons.

dIb on September 4, 2009 at 12:26 AM

He won’t be fired and he won’t quit – this is the only real job he has ever had and he has 30 billion dollars to spread around to his bogus green jobs initiative.

I thought Robert Gibbs was going to be gone by Valetine’s Day. But these guys think they can lock arms and brazen their way through, and they’ve been right so far. As long as Glenn Beck is the only guy taking about these jerks they aren;t going anywhere.

He’s not going anywhere. He’s Obama’s kind of anti-American thug.

Jeff from WI on September 4, 2009 at 3:37 AM

Van Jones is the tip of the iceberg. If Obama cuts him loose, Glenn Beck won’t give up on the other czars anyway. Go, Glenn, go!! And Valerie Jarrett – she seems to be the recruiter – she’s on video saying that they had been watching Jones closely since his days in S.F. He’s one of them.

4Freedom on September 4, 2009 at 8:16 AM

update: http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/

Beck will work this new info into his show at 5:PM — He WILL scream, “Please, Mr. President, explain this! Did you know this?”

I’m sticking with Jones being gone by 6:05PM (Amos 7:14)

rebuzz on September 4, 2009 at 8:35 AM

You post this as if Barry has political instincts beyond his own aggrandizement. I remain unconvinced that he will actually jettison Jones. After all, Jones is a communist and hates the GOP and Bush, which means that Barry simply lurves this guy.

Physics Geek on September 4, 2009 at 9:05 AM

If O keeps Van Jones, the GOP has only to bring this up before the 2010 elections and even more Dems go down the tubes. Of course, the right thing would have been not to take him on in the first place. Why is it that Barry’s ‘people’ never think they’re going to get caught? Or,they have such terrible vetters that Barry and co. are being taken for a ride? This administration has turned inexperience into true incompetence. O has already lost control of this whole situation and it worsens daily. That’s what you get when you are too lazy to do your own work and turn it over to the the Hill. He’s still voting ‘present’ but on a larger scale.

jeanie on September 4, 2009 at 9:23 AM

jeanie: Good point about the 2010 elections, but it will only be useful to Republicans if the MSM continues to remain silent on the Jones fiasco (see my other post here for details), in which case O will call it another “distraction.”

HowardPortnoy on September 4, 2009 at 9:27 AM

HowardPortnoy

The MSM does not report a lot of what conservative and GOP sites do, but the info seems to get out sooner or later. Let’s hope this is happening this time too.

jeanie on September 4, 2009 at 9:33 AM

Another , probably rather paranoid thought occurred to me, as I wrote the above. That guy who said the people who worked for the NHS in England were so many that they controlled elections—would this be possible for Barry with all his czars hiring folks right and left? See–I told you it was paranoia but I make no apologies as I think it’s justified in the case of this administration which works for it’s own ends and not the peoples.

jeanie on September 4, 2009 at 9:37 AM

rebuzz on September 3, 2009 at 7:02 PM

Okay, I was about an hour off — but “Major” on Fox just reported that Gibbs has issued a statement that Jones is still on the staff — close enough!

Stickin’ with 6:05 Pm EST!

It’ll be tonight. Going into a holiday weekend, families traveling, old news by Tuesday morning.

Rational Thought on September 4, 2009 at 11:12 AM

I’ll take never. As the Examiner points out, the other networks haven’t mentioned a single word about him. This is a non-news story as far as the Left Stream Media is concerned.

If Dear Leader let’s him go, Beck and Fox News et al, win.

Fish on September 4, 2009 at 11:16 AM

How is Obama going to fire Van Jones without firing most of his administration, including himself?

jay12 on September 4, 2009 at 11:34 AM

There’s so much to consider it’s like having one $100 dollar chip and you’re standing at a wide open roulette table. The seemingly safe bet is he’ll either be fired (a resignation would be an equivalent event,) or he’ll stay on, thereby equating it to a Odd/Even (Red/Black) outcome. Or, is there a “neither” outcome that we also need to consider?

Distraction, smoke and mirrors, and lies are this team’s forte. The Green Czar provides immense distraction in many directions and different levels. The dynamics are unique but craftily used over and over by this misadministration. Now, there exists in our midst, a living bifurcation that the majority of the nation (those that cannot possibly stay focused on several topics) will make a decision over, about what angers them the most and thereby reducing the amassed cloud of issues to mere singularities.

In a nutshell, if he departs the czar-ena it will be late October. That’s what I’m talkin’ about!

No prob, Dr. Z. It would look suspicious if I won my own pool. I should know. It happened in college!

As to who won, as far as I can tell, the closest guess (without going over the actual retail price) was jon1979. But in the end, it is the American people who are the big winners, whether they know it or not.
