My Heart Goes Out to the Obama Family

Life can be cruel. I swear, some people just can’t cut a break.
I just read this gripping report in USA Today that I thought it incumbent upon me to share. Warning: Have your tissue box handy.
According to the paper, the president’s vacation — brace yourself — “has been a bit of a gyp.”
First, he had to interrupt his R&R to renominate Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.
Then he got the bad news about his friend Ted Kennedy. [...]
USA TODAY’s Rich Wolf, on Martha’s Vineyard, reports that the president and First Lady Michelle Obama will interrupt their stay on the island to head to Boston tomorrow night.
Is there no God in heaven?!! The poor man takes him family on a vacation, and a heartless country just won’t leave him alone. Poor little Barack. Poor little Michelle. Poor little Obama kiddies . . . and Bo.
But wait. There’s good news too. “Deputy White House Press Secretary Bill Burton told reporters traveling with the president that Obama will be taking a few more days off once he returns to Washington next week.”
What a relief for little Barack and little Michelle and . . . .

Well, it is pretty hard on a narcissist when his popularity plummets….

Well, he’s taking the right approach to fixing this. He’s going to stay off TV for a few more days.

By the way, a similar expression, “My heart bleeds for Obama,” will take on a whole new meaning if Obamacare passes.

Nicely put, Daggett!

Come on man…

No he won’t, he’ll be broadcast around the world for the eulogy for Teddy on Saturday.
Sorry to burst you bubble.

Do you honestly think he would do something as crass as talk politics in his eulogy? I’m just asking — I don’t know that I’d anything past him. I think he may mention that this was TK’s baby, but to say any more than that is political suicide. Think about it: A guy committing suicide at a funeral!
HowardPortnoy on August 27, 2009 at 5:51 PM
I don’t think he’ll be able to resist.

Obama should take a long vacation, really long. Take a month or two, or what the heck, 42 months! He deserves it.

So, he needs a vacation from his vacation eh?
Must be some tough, bitter, clinging, wingnut crowds on Martha’s Vineyard…

When he goes on vacation , does his teleprompter go with him?

Wait…I’m channeling a spirit of the future… this is what I see of Obama’s eulogy (I’m deleting the many “uhs” for clarity:
I’ve always said, and let me be perfectly clear on this, that Ted Kennedy represented the best this nation has to offer. Now some people out there say I should say nothing. Some even say he should have been — should have been — say — hang on — I haven’t gotten much sleep on my vacation — say he should have been hanged for some alleged crime in Chapstick, New Massachusetts. [long pause] In fact, some say I shouldn’t even deliver these personal, heartfelt — wait — go ahead — roll it up — heartfelt words. But I say, Mary had a little lamb, its fleece was white — okay, who did that? I want to know who did that.
…then the spirit goes silent…

Thanks for the laugh.

The only reason his polls have held at -8 is because he’s stayed off our televisions for most of the week. When he starts flapping his lying purple lips next week, he’ll get back to the negative double digits.

HowardPortnoy, great point about the vacation, but the Obama girls’ names are Sasha and Malia, not hard names to learn. All due respect, it dilutes our well-taken points when we conservatives look as though you’re making fun of less-popular names, ESPECIALLY those of children.
Sasha
and
Malia
Two pretty names, I dare say. Let’s use them from now on.

um, “as though we’re making fun”

inviolet: Solid point. That line has been stricken from the post.
