Rock the Vote Crowd Beginning to Rock the Boat

Barack Obama’s poll numbers have been sinking faster than the Lusitania — no surprise there. What may be surprising, however, is that for the last two weekly polling cycles, his numbers have dropped the most among the group that was most vociferous in its support for him and seemed to have the most invested in his victory and ongoing success: young people.

According to Gallup’s reporting on Obama’s job approval by age (h/t Jay Cost), “the drop has been particularly steep — 11 points — among adults aged 18 to 29.”

The good news for the president is that “young Americans continue to give Obama the strongest support.” The bad news is that Americans in this age group remain the most fickle in their allegiances of any group in America. (Sorry, kids, but it’s true.) If you don’t believe it, just ask Lindsay Lohan — if you can find her.

In my world, the most vocal, passionate and intelligent critic of Obama’s positions and policies is our 17-year-old progeny. There is real hope.

Surprisingly kids expect adults to act like, well, adults. The President is, symbolically, the ultimate adult. He can be a dog like Clinton, and they will forgive him because they understand doggery.

Obama is a whiner, a blamer, a mocker, and a liar. In short, he is turning into the kid no one want to eat lunch with. Oh he came in acting all cool, like he was “one of the dudes” but as we got to know him we learned he knows nothing about sports, he talks like a dork (with out aides), plus he’s broke, or at least we’re all going broke because of him.

And his girlfriend looks terrible. She can’t even seem to run a comb through her hair or put on a decent outfit anymore. And his friends are a bunch of jerks. There’s the guy with the dopey mustache who keeps emailing you (creepy!), the witch, the confused old guy, and that pale fat kid who keeps making unfunny jokes at the front of the classroom. Who wants to hang out with him?

Kids don’t like it when they get lied too. Older people are used to it but when you are young the thought that people would actually try to deceive you is hard to understand.
They’ll learn.

My friends and I call them the YDF generation. Young dumb f***s. They’ve saddled us with this dangerous, unfit loser. And still 60 percent of them support him.

To be fair, there is a larger percentage of minorities, who tend to vote reflexively democratic, in this age group than in older age groups.

How could this be happening………I mean The Messiah and Mrs. Messiah were Crowned in a Greek temple!

Once upon a time…

There was an impressionable young man that believed all the ills of his country we’re created by a simple lack of cooperation. Voters on the right reflexively voted for Republicans and voters on the left reflexively voted for Democrats without even bothering to judge a candidate by their merits. Thus, when these two intractable sides met in DC they invariably failed to cooperate and so the unsolved problems perisisted.

After 12 years of failed Republican administration (as explained by his liberal public school teachers) a glint of hope shone on the horizon. A candidate, and his wife, appeared promising a return of Camelot- and affordable healthcare.

Warned this young man was of the dark potential of these snake oil salesmen. But he did not listen. He believed that if only one party could wrest control of both Capitol Hill and the White House then the Holy Grail of cooperation would be achieved. No more compromises. No more filibusters. No more half-completed visions. The new president and his allies on the Hill would be unfettered to solve all the country’s ills and the reflex voters would be forced to see the value of the candidate’s merits not just the candidate’s party affiliation.

The election came, and went. The City of Washington fell into the hands of Camelot’s stepchildren and they cast the “Evil” Republicans out to the wilderness. It was then, at the zenith of their glory, that the victorious party turned upon one another like starving rats. Each stabbing and slashing his fellow party member in the vain effort to secure absolute dominion for themselves.

And so it came to pass that the young man learned the true nature of the City of Washington. In the years since many a youth has he tried to warn of the snake oil salesmen, but like his youthful self, none would listen.

Makes sense. 7 months in and they’re still buying their own gas, paying their own mortgage/rent, their student loans didn’t go away. It’s almost as if Obama was lying or something (GHASP) about all the magic he would do.

Sorry, Roxanne, the youth never get any pity. I have two kids myself that were first time voters this yr, however they have functioning brain cells and know that Hope and Change are just bulls#it slogans. If more parents had taught their kids that you can’t make chicken salad outta chicken s#it then we’d all be, at least, somewhat better off. Really, I blame the parents. What are you people teaching your kids, you libs??? There are no unicorns and lollipops on this ride. EVER.
