Desperation is a stinky cologne, Rahm…

posted at 1:32 pm on August 7, 2009 by

This article really caught my eye, coming as it is during the health care situation:

White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel warned liberal groups this week to stop running ads against Democratic members of Congress.

The powerful top aide to President Obama made his feelings known at the weekly closed-door strategy session of an array of progressive organizations, according to two sources who were there.

Emanuel’s request came on the same day that Obama himself told a meeting of Democratic senators that he didn’t like seeing dollars used by liberal groups to target congressional Democrats.

Some on the left believe administration officials are making such statements only as a favor to Democratic legislators whose votes they’ll ultimately need.

If liberal groups want to go after Blue Dogs, great. Maybe we’ll get some defectors. They can have Lindsey Graham and Olympia Snowe.

However, there’s something more delicious in this. Why would Rahm be going after the Blue Dogs if the White House had enough RINO turncoats tucked away for ObamaCare? I can’t believe he’d be ginning this up to go after Cap-and-Trade, because that would be even too presumptuous for this administration. They’re expending all their political capital to get their health care reform passed, and the fact that he’s now telling the MoveOns of the country to back off shows that this is a very desperate situation for them. They’ve got control of Congress already, and while I’m sure the last thing they’d like to see is 2010 : Contact with America II, supposedly they could pass anything without threat of a filibuster.

No They Can’t.
