Brave people deface Bibles

You know, because no one ever does anything like that. Courage!
The open Bible is a central part of ‘Made in God’s Image,’ an exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow. By the book is a container of pens and a notice saying: “If you feel you have been excluded from the Bible, please write your way back into it.”
The exhibit, Untitled 2009, was proposed by the Metropolitan Community Church, which said that the idea was to reclaim the Bible as a sacred text. But to the horror of many Christians, including the community church, visitors have daubed its pages with comments such as “This is all sexist pish, so disregard it all.” A contributor wrote on the first page of Genesis: “I am Bi, Female & Proud. I want no god who is disappointed in this.”
Obviously, these were devout believers merely voicing genuine concerns with a religion they have respect for. The real kicker is when you find out what groups backed the idea:
The exhibition has been created by the artists Anthony Schrag and David Malone, in association with organizations representing gay Christians and Muslims. Mr Schrag, the gallery’s artist in residence, said that he did not believe in God, but that his research for the show had underlined his respect for people of faith.
I guess Bi-and-Loud didn’t get the memo, or maybe she’s just a homophobe. I must say, it’s refreshing to see Muslims joining hands with Christians to create a scenario where the faithful can submit their edits to their holy book, and give voice to their issues with some of the more disturbing passages. Naturally, we’ll be seeing a follow-up show where the Koran is similarly subjected to criticism.
…right?

If I, as a Christian, put a koran out for people to ‘put their feelings in writing’ on, can you imagine WHAT would happen? I would have my head flopped off by the rop.

Perhaps a Koran set up in a similar exhibit would be appropriate? Why limit it to angst over Christendom?
Seriously.
And then there is this…seems merely handing out Bibles in some nations can be a killer.

Metropolitan Community Church is an organization pushing same-sex acceptance, fyi.

Looked around a little more, and MCC Glasgow is a church plant. Apparently trying to get some publicity for their new church, and it looks like it worked.

Matthew 7:6 – Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet and turn and tear you to pieces.
How sad do we make God?

One might profoundly argue that, that instance demonstrates a great respect for the Bible. (yes, I’m purposely vague here.)

God loves Bi-and-Loud now that she has come to terms with her behavioral disorder and speaks about it openly without feelings of guilt.
