Two names – Huntley and Brinkley – as in “The Huntley-Brinkley Report” as in the finality of factual news reporting.

Perhaps, but I think Cronkite set forth an early standard of objectivity that few if any news anchors have emulated. Most of the older folks here grew up getting their daily dose of news from him and for the most part he delivered the news free of spin. Would that modern news anchors do the same!

Twenty-four hour cable news, the internet, and partisanship in the media made journalism far worse after Cronkite than before; imagine for a moment that you have wait each day for a 1/2 hour wrap-up on the day’s events?

Journalism is defined by men like Cronkite. Modern examples; i.e., Chung and Couric, do not compare. Journalism schools need to realize that.

Cronkite’s career saw the rise of advocacy journalism in the modern sense.

It could be argued that he invented advocacy journalism. With this invention we see today’s slobbering sycophants that caused the election of, and continue the insidious work of the destroyer of our country,Obama.

So it could be argued, Cronkite invented our destruction.
