Ace, Did You Ever Know
That You’re My Hero?

Yesterday, I did some more shoe-leather reporting on Capitol Hill, chasing the IG-Gate story. This morning, I logged on and saw this e-mail:

Mr. McCain,
I know you were off the grid for most of the day, so you might have missed this:

Mister Grumpy

This e-mail was very helpful in inspiring me, so I felt obliged to send the following e-mail reply:
Dear Mister Grumpy:
I CC this to Ace and also to a couple other bloggers, because it is against my religion to miss a good blogwhoring opportunity. To begin with, when it comes to blogging, Ace is the wind beneath my wings.
So like the abused trailer-trash wife who keeps lovin’ her man, even when he stays out all night screwing hookers, gambles away the rent money and slaps her around, I still love Ace even when he is 100% wrong. And I point this out at the American Spectator:
To continue the woefully inappropriate analogy, like the abusive husband who not only stays out all night screwing hookers, but actually pawns his wedding ring to buy an eight-ball of meth, Ace seems to have adopted a policy of strategic non-linkage to me, like I’m Andrew Sullivan or something.
So, like the devoted trailer-trash wife who responds to her man’s cheatin’ ways by cooking his favorite meal, putting on her sexy new Wal-Mart negligee, and meeting him at the door with an ice-cold Bud when he comes home about 2 p.m. Sunday after another all-nighter, I’ve decided to pay tribute to Ace by stealing The Paul Anka Integrity Kick:
Is this because I am a living exemplar of the Christian ethic, turning the other cheek and all that? Is it because my devotion to conservative principles is unshakeable and absolute? Is it because I’m about 10,000 hits away from crossing the 2-million mark?
You can call it “shameless desperation.” I call it . . . integrity!

P.S.: I hope you don’t mind if I post this e-mail at the Green Room.

Have Ace repeat this as he is writing the check for his higher taxes and formulating coherent reasons why he does NEED that MRI. Or better still, while I’m having to write my check and argue with my gov. health care agent. Here’s to squishy Republicans, may they live long and prosper.

Do you ever think some things just aren’t worth posting? Try to ask yourself such questions before hitting ‘publish’.

RSM, You should have asked us… “What’s the difference between R.S. McCain and Ace of Spades?” The answer would have been one is constant as the Northern Star and the other only has occasional flickers of genuine brilliance.
[ps] I do mind this e-mail posted at the Green Room. Keep this kind of slathering between yourselves.

Sorry, I was going to blog about the IG scandal, but why bother? Byron York owns that and I’m just some blogger dude.

It’s Saturday, so I just thought I’d do something to amuse myself, and maybe relieve the weekend monotony of Cronkite/Palin/Meghan/atheism.

Ever study Latin? Tu quoque.

(Excuse my grumpy mood. I know it’s late. I know you’re weary. I know your plans don’t include me. Still, here we are . . .

Northern Star is how your viewed by me and Byron York doesn’t own sh!t unless we say he does. I read your blog first and foremost about this IG scandal before York gets even a glance. Hence, “Constant as the Northern Star.” I don’t want to take anything away from Byron York except to say that favorite Abbott & Costello line of “Who is on first” or rather between the two of you “Who wrote about the IG scandal first?”

[ps] RSM, I just remember this quote from the great Satchel Page who used to say “Don’t look back because if you do they might be gaining on you”. Don’t look back Robert.

I think your spoofs of AoShq are hilarious. Thank you.

Blake on July 18, 2009 at 11:40 PM

Thanks, Blake. For years, I read AOSHQ every day, but professional obligations prevented me from just pulling up the anchor and rolling like a pirate. He’s an inspiration. It’s very rare for me to disagree with him, but in this dark hour, I think it’s very important that we — dang, there’s that “we” again! — think very carefully about how we got here.

GOP leadership treated the conservative grassroots like crap and as long as Team Bush was winning elections, the grassoots didn’t complain (at least not as loud and often as we should have). So the leadership got the idea we were a bunch of stupid chumps. Whose fault is that?

The tenor of Ace’s argument struck me as the kind of argument that GOP leaders hear and then tell each other, “Never mind what those idiots say. They’ve got no place else to go.” Which is how we got here, you see.

When they booed Cornyn at the Texas Tea Party, man, that was like music to my ears. It only would have been better if the crowd had started chanting, “Rubio! Rubio!”

I’ve spent 11+ years in D.C. watching the GOP leadership in action, and some booing from the grassroots is long overdue.

*is how youryou’re viewed
“Who is on first”“Who is on first?”

I came back here to see if you responded to my latest comment & found how crappy I spell and other discrepancies in my writing. Errors are made when comments are not previewed first. Maybe I should just say spelling, grammar & punctuation mark errors happen more often than I like in my comments. I hate it when I do that and it is unfortunate because it diminishes the effectiveness of my message.

I don’t understand any excuse for going easy on the idiocy and betrayals of the Republican Party. For me, it’s been there; done that — for the last time. As talented and accomplished as some people are, there must be an element of ??? in their political calculations. Or maybe each person’s sense of smell numbs differently as we’re drenched in leftist skunk. So let’s go back for another shiv from the same apparatchiks who made sure we have zero alternatives in a two party system.

I understand the Democrats, and their lies haven’t fooled me for a very long time. They are nothing if not consistent. The treachery of the Republican Party and the Bush Dynasty is another story. It’s a foul ruling-class that claims a birth-right to rule forever in America.

The Other McCain,
Thanks for risking a Cassandra complex to keep telling it like it is.

Wasting away in RINOville: Bush III / McCain 2012. Kewl!

*Sorry that switch never works for me, but I had to try.
